Winner on the AW in February at Wolverhampton and since running perfectly well back there. Returns to turf and merits respect for trainer/ in-form jockey.

Made all to take a soft-ground C&D claimer for Roger Fell in November and has broadly done okay under a different style of riding tactics on the AW since. Held up again at Doncaster on turf return and never in a challenging position.

Likely needs a career-best to win but has been going along well enough on the AW lately, could run into the money if transferring form across.

Not the force of old and his C&D win in July was gained in a claimer. Below that form at Doncaster recently back on turf and remains opposable.

Has gone 11 runs now without a win, well enough held on the AW at Chelmsford recently and needs new headgear to spark a change in fortune.

German import, well held on recent Southwell yard debut in an amateur's race on the AW but Oisin Murphy takes over now and worth paying attention to in the betting.

Seems hard to train and comes here having beaten only one rival home on the AW at Newcastle on the back of latest layoff, player if able to find best stuff.

Twice a winner in 2017 but yet to post any credible threats in handicap company for this yard and remains on the watchlist for now.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: P J McDonald| T: D Thompson| OR:  60

Winner of low-grade affair at Nottingham last summer over an extended-mile. He's now 4lb below that mark coming back to turf, but hasn't shown a lot in two AW starts since joining this trainer.

Duke Of Alba46
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: A Mullen| T: J Mackie| OR:  60| BF

Maiden after nine starts but only one previous run on turf and has been banging on the door of late on the AW since joining this trainer. Could have a chance if transferring that form across.

Well held in C&D seller when last seen in October in what proved final start for Michael Dods. Watching brief seems safest approach on first start for new handler/season return.

Lord Rob31
Age: 8|  Weight: 8-7| J: Jamie Gormley(3)| T: D Thompson| OR:  46
80/1
A record of 0-27 on the Flat is hardly one that sets the pulse racing and his case is further impeded by the fact he's running from out of the handicap. Looks an unlikely winner.

Forecasts

Duke Of Alba (3/1), Zorawar (7/2), Kilbaha Lady (7/1), Bahkit (7/1), Channel Packet (15/2), Remmy D (9/1), God Willing (12/1), Lafilia (16/1), Seaborough (25/1), Dreamofdiscovery (25/1), French Flyer (50/1), Lord Rob (80/1)

Verdict

The form of DUKE OF ALBA's latest Wolverhampton runner-up effort looks decent in this context and he's surely going to get his breakthrough success soon enough. This mark certainly offers him a chance to make it today. Similarly, Zorawar has been in good tune around Dunstall Park and is respected back on turf while Oisin Murphy's presence on Lafilia suggests the German import may be ready to herself justice now.
  1. Duke Of Alba
  2. Zorawar
  3. Lafilia
