Two solid efforts so far; progressed nicely from his debut to win over this trip at Chelmsford last month. More to come but concedes 7lb to rest and has to take another step forward. Not much strength in depth to the others though.

Bred to be effective at this sort of trip, possibly further in due course. Sure to benefit from the experience but fitting of a hood for his first run is slightly concerning.

Dam was a winning sprinter over both 5f and 6f, and plenty of winners on that side of the pedigree. Feasible the colt can figure but his yard has been quiet lately. The betting can be useful.

Placed four times from seven starts and is a likely candidate to cut out the running. Yard noted for having early season winners but this fellow needs to step up considerably on his seasonal bow at Kempton on Wednesday.

Showed plenty of promise on first two starts on turf last season but not so effective when switched to the AW at Kempton when last seen. Has a bit to prove now.
Yard is struggling for winners and makes limited appeal on pedigree (despite his dam being an unraced half-sister to a 7f winner); others are likely to be suited to this sort of intermediate trip.

Forecasts

Lestrade (8/11), Mawsool (6/4), John Betjeman (10/1), Potters Question (33/1), Dor's Diamond (33/1), Glory Street (66/1)

Verdict

LESTRADE looks the most progressive of a modest bunch and edges a narrow vote of confidence; John Betjeman has plenty of experience to draw from and may be the one to benefit the most if the 7lb penalty takes a toll on the selection. Dor's Diamond and Glory Street are bred to be effective at the trip and are worth a betting, while Mawsool showed ability on turf last season and can also take a hand if adapting to this surface..
  1. Lestrade

  3. Mawsool
