Off the mark at Ffos Las and the second and third have done little to advertise the form. Out of his league in the Champion Bumper and vulnerable here under his penalty.
Arvico gelding out of a mare who was moderate under rules but who won five point-to-points. Stable 0-24 in bumpers in past five seasons.
€42,000 brother to a winning point-to-pointer and related to two other winners. Withdrawn ahead of his intended debut a year ago and has possibly had issues.
Half-brother to a 3m1f winning chaser so would be expected to need further and trainer 0-20 in bumpers here over past five seasons.
Half-brother to smart performers Bouvreuil and Messire Des Obeaux. Trainer won this last year and sure to be one of the leading contenders.
Flat-bred gelding was an easy winner of a point-to-point last May and looked very much in need of the run when third on debut here in December. Failed to back that up next time and questions need to be answered.
Second in a fast run point-to-point at Ballinaboola in November when a hot favourite. Has joined a top yard who have a 7-15 record in bumpers here over the past five seasons.
€21,000 Court Cave gelding who won minor point-to-point event on only start in that sphere. Promising fourth here on rules debut and not seen since finishing down the field in a Listed contest at Cheltenham in November.
Fame And Glory gelding who normally have a good crack at this race. However that looks unlikely given a modest effort on his debut here in February.
Native Ruler gelding out of a mare who won three minor races over hurdles on fast ground. Down the field in a less competitive race on debut so has a lot to do.
Half-brother to eight winners with Mr Thriller and Gaspara the best of them. Stable have a five-year record of 3-35 in bumpers.
Flat-bred half-brother to Listed winner Boomshackerlacker. Exceeded expectations on Wincanton debut and below that form in an AW bumper next time. Tackles slower ground here and hard to evaluate.
Local runner for a yard that occasionally pop one in at a decent price. A few of these make more appeal on pedigree.
Shirocco gelding out of a dam who was Group placed on the Flat and a winner over hurdles. Stable 1-14 in bumpers this term but the pedigree merits a market check.
Unraced home-bred daughter of Tobougg out of a mare who won a maiden point-to-point on good ground. Likely best watched on racecourse debut.
Dam achieved little but comes from a good jumping family. Shirocco's progeny can be a bit temperamental so the fitting of a hood on debut is a concern.
Forecasts
Is A Real Champ (9/4), One Touch (7/2), Eros (6/1), Financier (7/1), Jelski (7/1), Big Data (12/1), Wye Aye (12/1), Gastara (20/1), Eden Flyer (25/1), One Handsome Dude (28/1), Storm Force Ben (33/1), Timeforadance (33/1), Navy Wings (66/1), Chestnut Pete (100/1), Betty Battens (100/1), Arvico's Light (100/1)
Paul Nicholls has had a good season in bumpers and his near 50% strike rate in such races here augurs well for the prospects of IS A REAL CHAMP. He was runner-up in what appeared a decent point-to-point on his only start and stable form just gets him the nod ahead of Eros. The well-bred gelding represents last year's winning yard who are just 1-27 in the past two weeks. Jelski has a stiff task under a penalty so One Touch and One Handsome Dude make most appeal of those to have raced.
