Group 3 runner-up has run some good races over hurdles in defeat and his worst effort came when tried in blinkers on his penultimate start. Better last time when held up over 2m and this trip/going combination should see him in a better light.

Looked in need of the experience on his Cork debut two weeks ago when tenth of fourteen and he can only improve on that. Doubt he will be ready in time for this.
3

Beaten 105L on stable and hurdles debut last month. Headgear worn that day is removed and his jumping has plenty of room for improvement.

Showed some promise in 2017 but none of his four runs since his return have come close to matching those performances.

Has looked ordinary and one paced in each of his starts. Needs to improve considerably but his master trainer may not have run out of tactical options just yet.

Full-brother to Monksland has shown some promise but his worst effort came last time on good ground. Has been off two months since so possibly there were other factors and the market may be more informative.

Flat middle-distance winner on testing ground who was tailed off on only previous start over hurdles. Off since October and others preferred.

Made no impression when well in rear on bumper debut and unlikely to be good enough in this company on hurdles debut.

By Mahler out of a Broken Hearted mare. Sister to genuine hurdler and decent chaser Ornua. Tailed off on first two starts and looks out of her depth in this.

Best run in two years last time and she should certainly find this longer trip to her liking. Would make more appeal against her own sex and if her trainer had not gone almost three years without a winner.

Subtle Power mare related to a couple of point-to-point winners. Represents a leading yard and the market should reveal more.

Failed to complete in three point-to-points and she did not jump well on her hurdling introduction at Clonmel last month.

Ex Dermot Weld middle-distance maiden rated 77 on the Flat. Makes hurdling debut after a seven month absence and the run may well be needed

Gelding by Arcadio out of a Flemensfirth mare. Beaten a long way in a couple of point-to-point starts and again on hurdling debut. (First reserve)

Edelpour (5/4), Southern Nights (13/8), Tillys Delight (3/1), Trappist Monk (8/1), Riverdene (10/1), Popong (16/1), Midnight Surprise (25/1), My Wings (25/1), Just Another Lady (33/1), Baliyad (40/1), Pakie's Dream (50/1), Comeragh Lad (50/1), Sunnyhill Lad (50/1), Merry At Heart (66/1), Each Way (66/1), Justcall'm John (100/1), Robin Gold (100/1)

Verdict

EDELPOUR will get few easier chances to open his account as the trip and ground look tailormade for him and the opposition is terribly weak. Southern Nights looks one of Willie Mullins more moderate charges and Trappist Monk may need some rain, but Midnight Surprise could make the frame at a decent price as she appeared to be going the right way last time when looking as though she needed a bit further.
  1. Edelpour
  2. Trappist Monk
  3. Midnight Surprise
