C&D winner in January (beating main market rival Deyrann De Carjac by 1¼L); followed that up with another solid effort at this track (2m4f+), and this is a far more suitable option than the Grade 3 company he kept at Sandown latest.

Bumper winner (also Grade 2 placed); has taken time to make his mark over hurdles, but off the mark at the fourth attempt at Kempton (2m, good to soft) 18-days ago; ideally could do with settling better early in his races; chance.

Has proved to be a bitter disappointment since sluicing up in a 2m3f novices' handicap hurdle at Ascot (good) in November; the key to his chance rests with whether or not Harry Skelton can get him anchored early; risky if forcing the pace.
Mistakes and never involved on debut at Huntingdon (2m, good); highly unlikely to trouble the principals today either; look elsewhere.

Has failed to set the world alight over hurdles (0-3) and is seemingly about as far down the pecking order at Seven Barrows as you can actually get; didn't appear to stay 2m4f at Fakenham last month; others preferred.
Showed a modicum of ability in bumpers, twice placed - including on debut for this trainer at Catterick; well beaten sixth of seven on hurdles debut at Sedgefield (2m4f); plenty more required; evidently not the solution.

Forecasts

Harambe (1/1), Garrettstown (13/8), I'm Wiser Now (3/1), New Quay (9/2), Lyndsays Lad (25/1), Lord Sparky (50/1), Molly Whuppie (125/1)

Verdict

Theoretically, Harambe should have the makings of a nice type for hurdling, and it was mildly reassuring that he broke his duck over timber in a relatively smooth fashion at Kempton recently. However, nagging doubts persist about his willingness to drop the anchor early doors, and he could face competition for the lead today from the risky New Quay and the hurdling debutante I'm Wiser Now. Therefore, he can be opposed with the C&D scorer GARRETTSTOWN who stays well and should find this race a far more suitable option than the Grade 3 contest which he contested at Sandown in March (pulled up).
  1. Garrettstown
  2. Harambe
  3. New Quay
