By Dubawi out of a half-sister to top-notch German performer Manduro this well bred colt has only showed minor ability in three novice events but he is upped in trip for his handicap debut and bred to stay and progress, interesting and respected.

Showed limited ability in first two starts but big improvement to finish second over 1m4½f at Newcastle latest at 20/1. Could well progress again here so has to be respected on handicap bow.

Showed some ability in two starts on turf before finishing sixth of nine at Chelmsford most recently when he was 3½L behind Mondain. The two have similar profiles so hard to be optimistic he can reverse only getting 1lb.

Unable to ever get seriously competitive in three races as a two-year-old although all of them came over 1m and he is bred for further. More needed but perhaps the trip can produce that.

Stoutly bred son of Soldier Hollow been gelded over the winter and now goes up 4f after three relatively non-descript efforts over 1m as a two-year-old. Much improvement needed but vast stamina in pedigree so every chance of that.

Looked very much in need of three outings to date over 1m as befits his pedigree which suggests we should see improvement now upped in trip. Respected here but others nevertheless more compelling.

Showed little in three novice events over 6f and well beaten on handicap debut too over 1m latest. Another big step up in trip here but others make greater appeal.

Forecasts

Mondain (13/8), L'Un Deux Trois (11/4), Whims Of Desire (7/2), Queen's Soldier (4/1), Withoutdestination (10/1), Sea Art (12/1), Another Reason (14/1), Achaeus (25/1)

Verdict

An interesting but difficult contest this with all bar one of them making their handicap debuts and most upped significantly in trip. The vote goes to the Kingsclere runner QUEEN'S SOLDIER although he hasn't shown quite as much as some because his pedigree is absolutely stamina packed so of all those up in trip he could be the one to improve most of all. Mondain is bred to stay and progress and he merits maximum respect as any runner upped in trip from this yard do. Withoutdestination has got the closest to winning when second last time out so is another with sound claims.
  1. Queen's Soldier
  2. Mondain
  3. Withoutdestination
