One of three runners in this for the trainer she showed something to work on when running sixth over C&D on debut. Not knocked around in a race that looked full of handicap projects, she should do better in time.

Careyanne9
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Alain Cawley| T: D Loughnane
25/1
Fair form on the Flat (won two 0-60 handicaps at up to 1m4f last year) but went the wrong way over hurdles last time. Given a fairly considerate C&D introduction over timber, conditions may have been too testing last time; worth another chance.
3
Horse silk
Darling Du Large16
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: P J Brennan| T: T R George| OR:  114
6/4
Developing a reputation for going like the best traveller in a race before failing to get the job done. Looked in control again at Newcastle last time before faltering close home to return another placed effort; one to treat with caution.
4
Horse silk
13/8
Fairly useful maiden on the Flat in France who has now twice suffered falls over hurdles, looking as though she was capable of winning on each occasion. Latest mishap came over C&D (travelled well); looks capable of winning this if staying upright.

Horse silk
Jaunty Soria23
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: R T Dunne| T: B Eckley
4/1
Fair in bumpers (showed ability in all four outings) she offered something to work on when sent hurdling last time after a three month break over 2m4f at Hereford. Now back in trip but against her own sex she has a chance of progressing again.

Mac Amara34
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams
66/1
Half-sister to four winners including a couple that this yard have done well with she hinted at some ability on her bumper debut but no more than that (100-1 chance). Now makes her hurdles debut but likely to need some more time/experience yet.

14/1
Gradual if unspectacular progress in bumpers with her improvement looking to have stalled when last seen in that sphere. Given a wind op prior to her hurdles debut (and fitted with tongue-tie), needed time/experience, cheekpieces now added.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Paul O'Brien(3)| T: N B King
50/1
Went backwards rather than forwards on her bumper starts and although she may well have needed the run on her hurdles debut she got no further than the second (suffered crashing fall). Best watched for now after that last time out experience.
9

100/1
Previously with John Flint she showed very little on her bumper debut and even less (if that's possible) on her initial hurdles start (pulled up). First run for her new yard but hard to think the stable switch is going to improve her significantly.

Wondergirl11
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: W T Kennedy| T: R Dickin
100/1
Stable having a barren year with this one achieving very little on her C&D hurdling debut. Pedigree gives hope that she could be better in the future but will need some time to produce more.
Given her pedigree (decent jumping one) she showed ability on her bumper debut (1m4f trip far too sharp). Sent hurdling next time (wore first-time hood) she showed more but still needs more emphasis on stamina than this 2m provides.

Emily Webb13
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-6| J: Kielan Woods| T: A M Hales
50/1
One Flat turf outing for James Unett revealed very little and she's shown only limited ability for this handler in two hurdling starts so far. Would need to show far more to take a hand here; needs this run for a mark.

Forecasts

Darling Du Large (6/4), Dieu Benisse (13/8), Jaunty Soria (4/1), Rose To Fame (14/1), Absolute Jaffa (16/1), Careyanne (25/1), Emily Webb (50/1), Slaine (50/1), Mac Amara (66/1), Binn Boru (66/1), Wondergirl (100/1), Trysor Ynys (100/1)

Verdict

Quite a few of these will be seen to better effect in handicaps once they gain a mark with some needing time and experience. DIEU BENISSE has hardly had the best introduction to hurdling falling on both her starts so far but as long as that hasn’t shaken her confidence she’s shown enough to take a race like this for her yard that do well here. Darling Du Large has flattered to deceive on a few occasions now and despite travelling well in her races it remains to be seen if she can be trusted to finish the job. Absolute Jaffa needs a greater test but will be of interest for the future with Rose To Fame and Jaunty Soira another couple who could get involved.
  1. Dieu Benisse
  2. Darling Du Large
  3. Absolute Jaffa
