Good start to novice chase career winning twice at Worcester last June but has run poorly all three starts so far this term at up to 3m. Drop back in trip may help and eased 1lb since pulling up in rough race last time.

Landed hat-trick over hurdles here back in 2017 and went close over fences last time at Market Rasen when just edged out off this mark. Sure to be thereabouts on that evidence.

Won 3m Hexham novice chase last June but looked out of sorts in two starts last monthon return from seven-month break. Dropped 3lb and connections apply first-time visor in hope of a revival in fortunes.

Sprang a 25/1 surprise in Doncaster novice chase in December, jumping well and making all to win easily. Hampered 2 out when in touch at Wincanton when thrid last time on handicap bow and 4lb drop looks very fair. One for the short list.

Driven out to score over 2m at Newcastle in December off 1lb lower mark but outpaced at that trip last two outings. Step up in distance may suit and any market move should be noted.

2-2 over fences here and won in good style in heavy ground latest over C&D. 7lb higher but faces quicker conditions and interesting to see if he proves as effective.

Won in France over hurdles and fences. Disappointing first two starts for current yard but may not have stayed 3m1f at Catterick last time. Too early to write off this stable companion of Treshnish.

Forecasts

Terry The Fish (11/4), Barton Knoll (7/2), Cabaret Queen (7/2), Cougar's Gold (5/1), Valence D'Aumont (8/1), Tanarpino (11/1), Treshnish (11/1)

Verdict

A trappy little race but BARTON KNOLL just gets the nod having run well until hampered last time out before finishing third at Wincanton. The 4lb lower mark gives him strong claims. Terry The Fish looks a very big danger and is greatly respected, while a return to form for Cabaret Queen would give her decent claims off current mark. Cougar's Gold should go well but his chance would be improved by any rain that falls.
  1. Barton Knoll
  2. Terry The Fish
  3. Cougar's Gold
