7/1
Beaten favourite in first two bumpers starts from a yard that has 26% strike-rate in this sphere this season. Regained some creditability when taking step back in the right direction at Huntingdon last time; better than finishing position suggests.

20/1
Trainer 5-34 with his bumper runners at the track (1-12 with debutantes). Newcomer whose unraced dam is related to several decent French winners; worth a market check.
Trainer has won with his last two bumper runners here at 7-2 and 5-2 which makes this one of interest. Cost €10,000 as a three-year-old out of a dam that won on the Flat at up to 2m; one for the shortlist.
Looked to need the experience on his AW bumper debut despite attracting some market attention at big odds. Yard have only had one winning bumper horse in the last five years; may do better but faces some potentially useful newcomers.

15/8
Yard a little behind their usual strike-rate in this sphere although this one had finished runner-up twice now. Didn't really get the run of the race on debut before bumping into a useful debutante last time at Southwell; sets the standard.
Runner-up in two AW (Lingfield) bumpers making the running both times travelling well on both occasions. Looks more about speed than stamina despite his pedigree at the moment and may well appreciate this sharp test.
Makes his debut for this yard who are 1-1 in bumpers at Stratford. Had made an encouraging start to his career for Stuart Crawford at Ayr in December (inexperience rather costing him his chance); has to cope with vastly different conditions.

Ran on his debut as if in need of both fitness and experience at Newbury before faring no better after a four month break when next seen. Did look rather laboured last time and far from among the leading players here.

20/1
Trainer has an unappealing bumper record (0-25 with debutantes) and 1-49 in the past five seasons. Given that record hard to enthuse too much over this debutante who cost €3,500 last year; related to a couple of jumping winners.

Horse silk
100/1
Yard hardly known for their bumper winners or runners for that matter and this home-bred debutante (plenty of stamina in the pedigree) is best watched on her debut.

Trainer always needs respecting with his bumper runners clocking up a 10-52 with his debutantes. Half-brother to two French jumping winners; dam also a hurdles winner. Another who needs noting in the betting exchanges.
Newcomer from a yard yet to have a bumper winner out of a dam who won two point-to-points. Likely to find this test rather too sharp; will need time and distance.
Hooded newcomer from a stable who struggle in this sphere although this one is a half-sister to three winners. Dam point-to-point winner but best watched for her debut.

Forecasts

Hurricane Harvey (15/8), Enemy Coast Ahead (7/2), In Rem (7/1), Millers Bank (7/1), Alph (7/1), Nothing Man (14/1), Cloud Formation (14/1), Effretais (20/1), Chosen Ginger (20/1), Supreme Soviet (25/1), Eye Of An Eagle (33/1), Midnight Popstar (50/1), Happy News (100/1), Secret Beri (150/1)

Verdict

A big field for a bumper round this sharp track and experience may count for a lot with Hurricane Harvey very much setting the standard after his two runner-up efforts but with his stable not quite firing in this sphere this season it may pay to take a look elsewhere. Tom George has won with his last two bumper runners at the track and his ENEMY COAST AHEAD makes plenty of appeal. Alph wouldn’t be one of Nicky Henderson’s main players in this discipline but he may build on the promise he showed last time with Millers Bank and In Rem another couple worth noting.
  1. Enemy Coast Ahead
  2. Hurricane Harvey
  3. Millers Bank
