Exploited a drop in the ratings to land a brace of wins earlier in the campaign. But denied a hat-trick after a soft fall last time out. Was still in there pitching at the time and must be considered a contender again if confidence not affected.
Won over C&D from a 16lb lower mark in December and was also successful at Haydock on his penultimate start. Looked weighted to the limit last time though and was a well beaten last of three. Has a bit to prove.
Won twice over fences in France but has been well below those levels on all tries since joining his current yard. Finished tailed off latest and difficult to get enthusiastic about anything from that run.
Won a bumper last May and has made steady if unspectacular progress since then. More required but going the right way and represents a powerful yard. Worth a betting check even though he comes here with something to find.
Disparities between the British and Irish handicapping systems allowed the gelding to run from lower marks in Ireland after his win at Southwell in October. Back on 117 for this, the gelding has improvement to find. (Wears first-time cheekpieces.)
Put up 15lb after a determined effort at Musselburgh didn't apply when the gelding won in novice company back at the same course last month. He's put to the test here, though, and a personal best over hurdles is now required.
Showed improved form on his penultimate outing but was worried out of things when he was hampered and ran out at Huntingdon earlier this month. Harsh to suggest he's not got more to offer. The betting can guide here.
Won at Killarney in Ireland last summer but has been shade of the same horse in subsequent outings. That said, his British form has eclipsed his Irish efforts and would thus be dangerous to underestimate. Possible player for a place at decent odds.
Won a seller and then a conditional riders handicap at Market Rasen around the turn of the year but has been brushed aside in this grade twice since. Dropped 2lb since his latest start but sill on a retrieval mission. Others looks more progressive.
Forecasts
Falcon Sun (5/2), Grey Diamond (4/1), Benny In Milan (9/2), Suggestion (5/1), Fransham (12/1), Fisher Green (12/1), Minella Fiveo (14/1), Viking Hoard (14/1), Horst (33/1)
FALCON SUN needs prove his confidence hasn't been affected by falling last time out, but he'd been in a progressive frame of mind beforehand and could be worth another shot in this modest company. Fisher Green has done little wrong of late and is respected as a player despite facing a sterner challenge than last time out now he's back in a handicap. Fransham and Viking Hoard are a couple of others to bear in mind to make it an interesting scrap for the places. The latter could be good value to steal a march on his rivals judging by the pick of his form when racing in Britain.
- Falcon Sun
- Fisher Green
- Viking Hoard
