Goes well at this time of year and is dangerously well handicapped on old form. Posted one of his better efforts at Southwell last time out and would have solid place claims is able to up his game a little. Not the most consistent though.
Acts on a flat galloping surface, so the nature of this course should suit. However, he's been below par here twice before and needs to have significantly benefited from his reappearance run at Market Rasen last month. Place claims at best.
Won a Class 5 handicap at Ayr from a 1st lower mark in January but has run respectably well twice since. Versatile regarding the ground too. Has to be a player in this company despite creeping up the weights.
Still relatively lightly raced over fences and has to be noted that he won well at Leopardstown last time out. Represents a highly respected yard which is adept at spying an lucrative opening to pay for the travelling expenses over from Ireland.
Harsh to judge the gelding on his latest effort when he unseated after being badly hampered mid-race at Huntingdon earlier this month. Previous chase form looks patchy too though.
0-18 over fences so far and recent form has seen a bit of a dip in terms of quality. Others more appealing.
Gained a deserved win from a 5lb lower mark at Sedgefield in January and respected on that effort; but last two starts have left a bit to be desired (was already beaten when he fell at the last back at Sedgefield latest). Has a bit to prove now.
On a long losing run but is back on a handy mark as a result. may prefer a more undulating surface though.
Only raced five times over fences up until now but has achieved very little and it's difficult to envisage the gelding being good enough to come out on top here. (Set to race from 9lb out of the weights.)
Placed once - in a weak race - from four starts over fences so far and has a bit to find even in this modest company. Another with a stern challenge ahead from out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Perfect Leader (11/4), Paddling (10/3), Las Tunas (5/1), Oliver's Gold (5/1), Cool Valley (7/1), Trooblue (16/1), Uncle Bobby (20/1), Boss Des Mottes (33/1), Early Boy (50/1), Leonasisland (50/1)
Irish raider PERFECT LEADER has been found a weak race to follow up his win at Leopardstown earlier in the month; the gelding won with a bit in hand that day and looks the one to beat in this company despite being set to carry 8lb more for a comfortable win in a 0-109-rated handicap. Las Tunas is holding his form well and is rated as a serious contender this time too; Boss Des Mottes also merits consideration on the pick of his form but needs to have derived plenty of benefit from his latest start to figure as a leading contender. Oliver's Gold is well handicapped on old form and is also rated as danger.
- Perfect Leader
- Las Tunas
- Boss Des Mottes
