Took advantage of a reduced mark to land a first career success at Ayr last time (2m4f, good-to-soft) despite not jumping fluently he won with a bit in hand. Needs to jump with a little more fluency; remains well handicapped on his hurdles form.

Dealt a good hand by the handicapper after a significant break (4lb below his last winning mark) but well below form when last seen. Only one chase win to his name but this isn't a strong affair; can't be ruled out given he's well treated.

20/1
Unreliable sort but one who is capable of winning at this level on his day; capitalised on a falling mark (90) to score at Sedgefield recently. Produced a sour display last time (not untypical); lurks on a good mark if the good version turns up.

Form over hurdles is only modest but he's already matched that over fences with a third here last time despite the 3m test looking too much for him. Drop in trip could well be to his liking; still has scope within this discipline; career-low mark.

Pc Dixon5
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Thomas Dowson(3)| T: V Thompson| OR:  92| C
10/1
Lightly-raced over fences (0-2) but still has yet to score in a handicap; not necessarily bred/built for chasing and pulled up last time. Pulled up in a Sedgefield handicap recently (well found in the market); hard to support with confidence.

Well Joeyt12
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: R T Dunne| T: P Stafford| OR:  90
13/8
Has maintained his maiden status for a long time now (0-26 overall); took a step forward on his first outing for this yard when second over C&D to a well-treated sort. Faces better conditions today; respected but needs to repeat that run.

Westend Theatrep29
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-3| J: Sam Coltherd(3)| T: Mrs J Walton| OR:  77

Poor maiden chaser who failed to impress in first-time cheekpieces when last seen. Clearly has been hard to train and had his problems; plenty of ground to make up on Graystown based on their last meeting; others appeal more.

Undeniably well-handicapped on some of his old hurdles form but hard to build a case for on his recent exploits over fences. Has a lengthy absence to overcome and the likelihood is that this run will be needed.

Kilcullen Ladyp33
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: H Hogarth| OR:  71
33/1
Irish point-to-point winner who has shown very little under Rules despite being tried in various disciplines and varied trips. Runs from 3lb out of the handicap here and not hard to pass over.

Soryp12
Age: 12|  Weight: 10-0| J: Ross Chapman| T: Miss T Jackson| OR:  70
16/1
4lb out of the handicap and 0-16 over jumps are hardly convincing credentials. Finished a modest third over C&D last time (again out of the handicap), gradually left behind and will find conditions less testing this time.

Forecasts

Well Joey (13/8), Graystown (11/4), Katalystic (6/1), Pc Dixon (10/1), Westend Theatre (12/1), Sory (16/1), Roxyfet (20/1), Allez Cool (25/1), Kilcullen Lady (33/1), Roll Of Thunder (50/1)

Verdict

Despite some less than fluent jumping GRAYSTOWN did turn in a quite decent performance last time winning with something to spare and the second and third have franked the form since. If the first-time cheekpieces sharpen him up he’s every chance of following up that win. Well Joey is still seeking that elusive first victory but makes some appeal along with Katalystic who may have more to offer in this sphere. Roxyfet still lies in wait on a good mark but is more likely to succeed back at his beloved Sedgefield than here where he is 0-4.
  1. Graystown
  2. Well Joey
  3. Katalystic
