9/2
Won the Somerset National at Wincanton in January but has run as if something has been amiss in his last two starts - unseated and then pulled up latest - which has to be a worry. Career best needed from present mark too.

Pobbles Bay8
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  128
4/1
Finished seventh in last season's Welsh National but that efforts seems a good way from his recent levels of form; took a heavy fall in a Grade 3 at Haycock and also failed to complete at Taunton latest. Claims on best form but a bit to prove now.

Van Gogh Du Granitb52
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-5| J: David Noonan| T: D Pipe| OR:  127
4/1
Yard has a good sourcing agreement for its French imports and this fellow, who won seven chases in his homeland, would be dangerous to overlook. The betting can guide but he looks one to consider all the same.

Dancing Shadowb25
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-2| J: James Best| T: V R A Dartnall| OR:  124
15/8
Second in the Devon National latest but was held by Like The Sound when they encountered each other at Wincanton a couple of months ago (13lb better off with that rival but still a bit to find on a literal reading of the form).

Calin Du Brizaisb25
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Buckley(10)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  122
4/1
Been consistent over fences but does still look weighted to the limit. Has a bit to find with Dancing Shadow from last time out and no easy task despite the rider's 10lb claim helping at the weights.

Forecasts

Dancing Shadow (15/8), Pobbles Bay (4/1), Van Gogh Du Granit (4/1), Calin Du Brizais (4/1), Like The Sound (9/2)

Verdict

Questions can be raise about every runner so a race to treat with caution. However, French-bred VAN GOUGH DU GRANIT adds a bit of intrigue and he may be worth a sporting punt on his debut run for his high profile yard. Like The Sound can also go close if his jumping holds together this time, while Pobbles Bay also needs to boost his confidence with a clear round and can only be recommended for a minimum stakes play.
  1. Van Gogh Du Granit
  2. Like The Sound
  3. Pobbles Bay
