Age: 6|  Weight: 12-1  |  J: Paul O'Brien |  T: C E Longsdon|  OR: 107
5/1

Not devoid of promise in bumpers or over hurdles, and better than the result when fourth of 5 to Night of Sin in novice handicap at Leicester on chase debut, finding the trip too sharp. return to 3m will suit, and considered.

2
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12  |  J: Benjamin Poste |  T: Katy Price|  OR: 104|  CD
11/2

Tongue tied when off the mark in a similar event over C&D on chase debut, but found out by rise in the weights at Wetherby last time. Others preferred again.

3
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12  |  J: L P Aspell |  T: Mrs A J Perrett|  OR: 104|  D
13/2

Didn't go on over hurdles, but may do better as a chaser given she has won a point-to-point, and probably in need of the run on chase debut at Newbury early this month. Handicapper has given her a chance.

4
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9  |  J: Maxime Tissier |  T: Mrs L Wadham|  OR: 101|  BF
4/1

Runner-up at Market Rasen a year ago, but below form on completed starts since, and unseated after jumping sharply right last time. Visor replaces cheekpieces here, but easy to have reservations.

5
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-9  |  J: Sam Twiston-Davies |  T: N A Twiston-Davies|  OR: 102
18/1

Fourth over hurdles at Haydock in December, and while he's disappointed since, he's had some excuses, and has the physique to make a better chaser. Market should guide.

6
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9  |  J: M Hamill |  T: K C Bailey|  OR: 101
20/1

Has looked a hard ride since finishing second on her chase debut at Warwick, and something to prove after crashing out early on her latest start.

7
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4  |  J: S Bowen |  T: Mrs Caroline Bailey|  OR: 96|  BF
8/1

Now 10lb higher than when scoring at Wetherby in December, and ran well when fourth over C&D in January, but she disappointed last time, and looks in the handicapper's grip at present.

8
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13  |  J: Alan Johns |  T: Tim Vaughan|  OR: 91|  D
15/2

Related to some useful sorts over jumps, and won a point-to-point in January 2018. Not shown a great deal over hurdles, but no great surprise to see him fare better with a visor fitted on chase debut.

9
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-9  |  J: D A Jacob |  T: B Barr|  OR: 87
5/1

Disappointing over hurdles, but took advantage of handicapper's generosity when winning on second chase start at Wincanton last time. Not certain to back that up given profile, but has claims on form.

Forecast

Mr Love (4/1), Stormy Milan (5/1), Black Anthem (5/1), Itsamanslife (11/2), Annie Angel (13/2), Clondaw Ace (15/2), Lady Master (8/1), Browndodd (18/1), Agent Memphis (20/1)

Verdict
The previous winners look vulnerable here, and a chance is taken on chase debutant BROWNDODD, who hasn't set the world alight over hurdles, but is handicapped accordingly, and is both built and bred to excel over fences. Annie Angel has been given a chance by the handicapper and will be fitter for her initial spin over the larger obstacles, while Stormy Milan is also a player with the step up to this trip expected to bring improvement.
  1. Browndodd
  2. Annie Angel
  3. Stormy Milan
