Found the drop to selling grade providing him with his first hurdles win (first-time tongue-tie). Continued in good hurdling form last time (via a modest AW run) when outbattled by a stronger finisher at the trip (2m3f); vulnerable back in handicaps.

Successful off a 5lb higher mark when chasing at Hexham last May for his former yard. Started to look as though he could be running into form over hurdles of late (first two runs for this yard); cheekpieces now applied for the first-time.

Won only point-to-point start, showed ability in sole bumper before not quite reaching his potential in three novice hurdles so far. Now returns from a break going handicapping for the first time dropped back to 2m; market watch advised.

Would be a danger to all here if reproducing her 2018 summer form which saw her win off just 2lb lower and run consistently well after. Both efforts since returning from a break have been poor though, plenty to prove, ground a question mark.

Never built on his Limerick novice win when with James Nash, also tried over fences and in headgear. Underperformed on his initial run for this yard (without headgear/down in trip); headgear now back on, remains an unsafe proposition.

Plenty of promise in his first two juvenile hurdles (behind two useful types; failed to achieve anything on his handicap debut, up in trip. Beaten some 40L (may have been amiss), now back from a break and worth another chance on his first two runs.

Scored back-to-back handicap victories returning from a break late last year with one of the wins coming over C&D, soft ground. Winning run curtailed last time out (still ran with credit) off this same mark; capable of another sound run here.

Stable gained a couple of welcome winners on Saturday but will be doing well to add to that tally with this one. Landed a 2m Worcester maiden hurdle (2017) but beaten a long way since returning from a lengthy absence.

Failed to make much of an impact so far over hurdles having cost 48,000 guineas from John Gosden's yard, fairly useful on the Flat (won off 77). Looks reasonably well treated on his Flat form, now handicapping, chance if he stays this 2m.

Forecasts

Darlyn (11/4), Ninth Wave (5/1), Caswell Bay (11/2), All Good Things (6/1), Bazooka (13/2), Bold Reason (9/1), Endless Credit (10/1), Stylish Dancer (25/1), Jacobite Rising (40/1)

Verdict

Both the handicap debutantes bring something to the party in their own away although there must still be a doubt about Bold Reason lasting out this sharp 2m, he was after all a miler on the Flat. Ninth Wave now reverts to the distance over which he ran his point-to-point and that makes him of interest in this sphere for the first time. Caswell Bay is another youngster who can’t be ignored especially as he’s likely to be better than his debut handicap effort at Chepstow. Henry Oliver has been going well with his handicappers this year (25% strike-rate) and his DARLYN looks capable of bouncing back t winning ways after showing herself competitive off this mark last time.
  1. Darlyn
  2. Caswell Bay
  3. Ninth Wave
