2/1
A shadow of his former self (Grand Annual winner off 147; 2014) but his mark reflects that, although it has been nearly two years since his last success. May have needed the run (behind Deise Vu) last time over C&D; still a bit to do at the weights.

2/1
Comes here looking to complete a long-range hat-trick having taken a Hereford handicap chase in November; followed up over C&D after 4 months off (may have been fortunate; left clear last). Up 5lb, toughest test yet but is a dual C&D winner.

8/1
Winning hurdler who has yet to convince over fences (0-6) despite producing two fair efforts back from a break; has run well at Lingfield (unseated rider), Taunton (runner-up). Few positives to take from his last run though; looked far from keen.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mr Jason Dixon(7)| T: S-J Davies| OR:  105| D
9/4
Only 1lb above his last winning mark, may well benefit from this ease in grade; ran very well in a 0-130 off 5lb higher (penultimate start). Failed to build on that promise last time but trip (2m4f) too far; could fare better than the market expects.

Forecasts

Savello (2/1), Deise Vu (2/1), Deadly Approach (9/4), Broughtons Rhythm (8/1)

Verdict

It’s fair to say that Deise Vu arrives at the top of his game but despite being a dual C&D winner this is a tougher test than either of those victories and he could have been a fortunate victor last time. Savello gets a fair pull in the weights having finished fourth to Deise Vu last time but still has a bit to do to reverse the form and his losing run is a long one. It may be worth speculating with DEADLY APPROACH who will find this grade and trip far more suitable and he’s slipped to just 1lb above his last winning mark; he’s taken to outrun market expectations.
  1. Deadly Approach
  2. Deise Vu
  3. Savello
