Age: 10|  Weight: 11-12| J: C Brace(7)| T: C R Dore| OR:  98| D
7/2
Soft ground winner on the Flat and has won five hurdle races, the latest at Fakenham in October on his final start for Neil Mulholland, when 13lb higher. Unable to repeat that form for this trainer, but should be competitive, as he showed last time.

Goldslinger32
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-11| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  97
9/2
1-11 over hurdles, having scored at Newton Abbot (2m2f, soft) last April, when 5lb lower. Largely disappointing since, including when pulled up over C&D on penultimate start. More needed.
3

Oscar Maguire27
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: L Treadwell| T: O Murphy| OR:  95
7/1
Showed promise on debut in Uttoxeter bumper (good) in November, but has followed that with three modest efforts over hurdles. Does not look well treated strictly on that form, but a market check would be prudent.
4
Horse silk
Sweep Of Diamondsv7
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Joshua Moore| T: R Woodman| OR:  90
20/1
50-1 and not disgraced on handicap debut over C&D (soft) last time, when 18L seventh. Same mark today, so more needed, but improvement not ruled out.
5
Horse silk
Ermyn's Emerald25
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-3| J: N F Houlihan(7)| T: P Phelan| OR:  89| BF
7/2
16-race maiden over hurdles. Encouraging that his best effort came over C&D and also that he has almost matched that on two of his last three starts, but discouraging that he has been beaten favourite on his last two. More needed.
6
Horse silk
Foxy's Spiritt117
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-2| J: Graham Carson(7)| T: Joanne Thomason-Murphy| OR:  95
50/1
Yet to make the frame in either code and well held over hurdles at Doncaster last time. Has dropped 8lb since then and has a tongue-tie fitted here, but we still need to see more.
7
Horse silk
Golden Cannon7
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: M Goldstein| T: Miss S West| OR:  87| C
8/1
Sole win came here (2m1f, good) in November, when 5lb lower. Unable to get back to that level of form since, but couldn't rule her out of the frame from this mark if running to her ability.

Enforcementh201
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-13| J: Harry Stock(5)| T: M Keighley| OR:  92
16/1
Maiden under both codes and is not showing enough over hurdles to suggest that he can defy this mark on his handicap debut.
9
Horse silk
Royal Concordet122
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: Thomas Garner| T: Mrs L C Jewell| OR:  80
9/1
Has gone off at big prices and been well held in all four starts. Tongue-tie fitted for this handicap debut, but initial mark looks stiff on a strict interpretation of his form.
10
Horse silk
Good Impressionb31
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-6| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: A Stronge| OR:  85
10/1
Has not yet come close to winning over hurdles and is a 20-race maiden under both codes, but if handling soft ground (okay on good to soft) you could give him a chance from this mark based on a couple of runs. Market check advised.

Horse silk
Whipcrackaway579
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Alain Cawley| T: P Hedger| OR:  72
33/1
Sole win over hurdles came in 2012 and returns to this discipline for the first time since July 2017. Was runner-up at Chepstow (soft) from this mark two years ago, but plenty to prove again here.

Ruby Taylor19
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Pte Alexandra Bell(7)| T: N Lampard| OR:  66
50/1
Huge odds and well beaten in all starts so far. 6lb 'wrong' today and readily opposed.

Forecasts

Collodi (7/2), Ermyn's Emerald (7/2), Goldslinger (9/2), Oscar Maguire (7/1), Golden Cannon (8/1), Royal Concorde (9/1), Good Impression (10/1), Enforcement (16/1), Sweep Of Diamonds (20/1), Whipcrackaway (33/1), Foxy's Spirit (50/1), Ruby Taylor (50/1)

Verdict

A moderate contest where few have genuine claims. Good Impression may be one of those and can give a good account, while Collodi, Goldslinger and Emryn's Emerald are others. However, although not looking particularly well treated on paper. it may be that OSCAR MAGUIRE can now show some improvement as he enters handicaps, and a chance is taken on him.
  1. Oscar Maguire
  2. Goldslinger
  3. Good Impression
