0-8 under Rules but not disgraced after a break when sixth last time at Uttoxeter. 3lb lower now and eased in grade but yet to conclusively prove she stays this near 3m trip.

Scored over about this trip on soft ground at Worcester last May and now just 1lb higher. Ran fair race on penultimate start and has ground conditions to suit this time.

Only win in 23 starts came over 2m in Ireland in 2017. Hasn't shown a great deal in five starts over hurdles and fences since joining current yard and has plenty of questions to answer. First time visor now applied.

Hot Ryan19
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: T Scudamore| T: D Pipe| OR:  91
7/1
Lightly raced mare who makes handicap bow having shown only modest form to date in a bumper and three hurdles. Shaped as though worth a try over this longer trip when fourth last time over 2m5f and no surprise to see her go well for good yard.

Arqalina20
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Charlie Deutsch| T: Miss V Williams| OR:  89
2/1
Bounced back following poor effort penultimate start to win at Ffos Las last month winning with plenty in hand on step up to around this trip. Has 10lb rise to contend but still looks very much on the right side of the handicapper.

Led to 3 out in race won by Arqalina last time but then faded fast and was soon pulled up. 14lb better off now but may again struggle to get home in testing ground. Tongue-tie applied for first time.

Just two starts under Rules and ran poorly last time on handicap bow at Worcester last July. Returns from long break and has been dropped 7lb but may find this quite a challenge.

Windy Bottom21
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-10| J: Page Fuller(3)| T: Miss Z C Davison| OR:  83

Very modest form so far over a variety of trips. Eased 5lb since fading from 3 out on most recent start and much more needed here if she is to make her presence felt.
9
Horse silk
20/1
Shown nothing in five starts so far under Rules and was completely tailed off last time at Taunton. Dropped 5lb since then but will do very well to get involved given evidence thus far.
10
Horse silk
Rule The Oceant75
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-4| J: C J Todd(7)| T: M Sheppard| OR:  77
8/1
Runner-up in succcessive handicap hurdles for today's rider prior to poor effort last time at Hereford. Given a break since then, runs off same mark, and has claims if she sees out the extra three furlongs.

Horse silk
Avithosb27
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-3| J: Edward Austin(7)| T: Mark Gillard| OR:  76
5/1
Only win in 21 outings came at Taunton more than two years ago. Returning from break when keeping on into mid-division last time and is one of the likelier outsiders off a light weight.
12
Horse silk
Monet Moor73
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: W T Kennedy| T: J D Frost| OR:  70
40/1
Veteran mare, still a maiden, and switches to hurdles for the first time in over two years. Not disgraced when third in Lingfield handicap chase last time but has further to travel here and runs from 3lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Arqalina (2/1), Avithos (5/1), Sauvignon (11/2), Hot Ryan (7/1), White Lilac (7/1), Rule The Ocean (8/1), Presenting Lucina (16/1), Shotgun Sally (20/1), Windy Bottom (25/1), Persistantprincess (25/1), Monet Moor (40/1), Foxy Lass (66/1)

Verdict

The way ARQALINA bolted up last time on her first attempt at this trip suggested she was a well handicapped mare and a 10lb rise in the weights may not prove enough to foil her bid to follow up. Hot Ryan is unexposed and represents shrewd connections so is worthy of consideration, wheil both Sauvignon and Rule The Ocean have the potential to be involved.
  1. Arqalina
  2. Rule The Ocean
  3. Hot Ryan
