In good form right now and failed by 2¾L to win the race he won 12 months earlier at Gowran Park over 2m2f earlier this month. Should be among the leading players.
Holds a fine record at the track winning twice and hitting the frame from three starts here. Winner of a Limerick handicap chase over a similar trip in December off a 7lb lower mark. Holds leading claims.
Not won since 2016 and switch to this sphere at Cheltenham and last month at Punchestown this season has seen three rather laboured efforts which give him a huge amount to find.
Form has been sending out mixed messages of late where the Millenary gelding has flattered to deceive. Last win over the larger obstacles came over 15 months ago off a 1lb lower weight and is hard to fancy in this company.
Hasn't won since a Flat success in 2016 and has shown no signs of a revival when pulled up at Gowran Park before only beating one home at Fairyhouse in January. Heavy defeat at Leopardstown latest leaves plenty to prove in this contest.
Four from 28 over hurdles but is yet to trouble the judge in eight starts over the larger obstacles. 1½L defeat finishing third of 20 behind Snugsborough Benny at Galway in August has not been built on and others look to be more convincing.
Gallant and genuine sort who runs his race more often than not. Winner of six of his 49 chase starts he is in the veteran stage but still capable of a bold show.
Running well over hurdles towards the end of the summer winning a Listowel handicap hurdle when last seen in September. Interesting switch back to fences for first run off a break for a yard successful at the festival last week.
Came to the yard very late in his career and the Cheltenham Gold Cup winning trainer has been unable to work his magic with the Lost World gelding. Needs a couple of these to falter.
Forecasts
Goulane Chosen (10/3), Vent De La Cote (7/2), Westerner Point (5/1), Undressed (5/1), Mine Now (7/1), Kylecrue (7/1), Gusty Rocky (14/1), Nearly Nama'd (20/1), Bay Of Freedom (20/1)
Wide open contest with many chances, but the last time out winner WESTERNER POINT can land the spoils here for trainer Eoghan O'Grady on the back of a 2½L win at the Limerick Christmas festival off a 7lb lower mark. The Seamus Spillane-trained Goulane Chosen can emerge as the biggest danger following a career best run at Gowran Park earlier this month finishing second of 11, while Kylecrue and Vent De La Cote appear capable of hitting the frame.
- Westerner Point
- Goulane Chosen
- Kylecrue
