Classy two-year-old who could only add one Listed win last season at Salisbury in June. Gelded ahead of recent reappearance and ran close to his best when third in Listed Wolverhampton contest. Has to give plenty of weight away back in a handicap.
Had continued to run to a consistent level since Haydock win in July before struggling at Group 2 level in Qatar. C&D winner has won off this mark in a handicap previously and likely to bounce back to form here.
Dual AW winner for John Gosden and tried in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot. Sold for £300,000 since and has kicked on again in two starts for new yard, while shaping last time as though a drop to this trip may help. Leading hope.
Last three wins came over this C&D but proved disappointing on his second run back from a 240-days absence after a promising run behind Salateen. Plenty to find with Gallipoli from latest run and others may be better handicapped.
Gained an overdue third career win in a class 4 at Chelmsford in October and both handicap wins have now come off that 5lb lower mark. However ran right up to his very best in this grade at Newcastle last month and remains consistent.
Listed winner as a juvenile and gained first win since over a mile here in January. Now 9lb higher and not disgraced off tough terms in Listed company latest when slowly away. Gets huge pull with Cardsharp and better suited returning to a handicap.
First run at this track following a front-running success at Newcastle in a class 4. That was a career-best but all wins have come at a lower level and faces a tough ask in this grade from 2lb out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Cardsharp (5/2), Apex King (7/2), Gallipoli (4/1), Main Street (4/1), Salateen (7/1), Call Out Loud (10/1), Take The Helm (20/1)
In a typically open and tough contest for this grade Salateen is likely to appreciate a return to these shores and is a reliable performer. Gallipoli is another who is consistent and looks likely to go well after another good latest effort. Apex King doesn't win often but wasn't disgraced in Listed company recently and is weighted to reverse the form with Cardsharp. There's plenty of pace on offer and the race could be set up nicely for MAIN STREET who took a clear step forward last time and the cheekpieces may help him concentrate at the start.
- Main Street
- Salateen
- Apex King
