Shanghai Grace¹¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: Cieren Fallon⁽⁷⁾| T: C Hills| OR: 75| D

7/4

Gained just reward for a consistent run of form when breaking his maiden tag in novice company over this distance at Chelmsford. Open to further progress and on a fair mark for handicap debut.

Form: 44-2231

(3)

Facethepuckout^p⁵³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: A Kirby| T: J Ryan| OR: 75| D

5/1

1-12 in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien and initially had a couple of tough asks for his new yard before a poor run at Wolverhampton in January. Others look more reliable.

Form: 22046-5

(2)

Fox Kasper^p1²⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Oisin Murphy| T: R Hannon| OR: 73

11/4

Plenty of promise from his first two starts and not beaten far on handicap debut over a mile at Kempton when unsuited by a slow tempo. A fast run 7f is likely to suit and open to progress off 2lb lower.

Form: 32-56

(5)

Fiction Writer⁵⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: P J McDonald| T: C & M Johnston| OR: 73

3/1

Beaten in a photo finish on debut but hasn't progressed from it in two runs since. Could improve on handicap debut for leading stable but plenty to find with Shanghai Grace.

Form: 2-85

(4)

Paddy's Pursuit²⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Liam Jones| T: D M Loughnane| OR: 70

33/1

Promise shown when finishing fourth in first two starts but pulled far too hard over this trip at Wolverhampton last month. Needs to leave that poor run behind and improvement needed on handicap debut.

Form: 4-47

(1)

Axel Jacklin⁴⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: Joey Haynes| T: P Howling| OR: 69| CD

12/1

Twice a winner for Mark Johnston over this trip including on last run in a claimer in January. That was a weak affair but he remains on a decent handicap mark and holds chances in a weak contest.

Form: 57-4421

Non-Runners

(6)

Monsieur Piquer²

Weight: 8-12| Age: 3

T: K R Burke J: C Lee

Forecasts

Shanghai Grace (7/4), Fox Kasper (11/4), Fiction Writer (3/1), Facethepuckout (5/1), Axel Jacklin (12/1), Monsieur Piquer (12/1), Paddy's Pursuit (33/1)

SHANGHAI GRACE is proving reliable and looks to have found a weak opening for his handicap debut following a deserved first win. Fox Kasper swaps blinkers for cheekpieces and he may find this race run more to suit than his handicap debut at Kempton. He's worth another chance while Monsieur Piquer left his previous form well behind on his recent reappearance. Axel Jacklin can be competitive for his new yard.
