Ungenuine sort who has now slipped to a good mark; now eased into this grade for the first time (ran into 0-70 last time). May well have been helped by first-time blinkers last time; can be slow away, not one to trust totally; has won on Fibresand.

Age: 8|  Weight: 9-9| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  62| CD
7/2
Five-time course winner (one win over this trip); showed himself capable over 7f here on his penultimate start. His last win saw him close to his best form although he failed to back that up under a penalty over C&D last time; player in this grade.

Plenty of AW form (two wins to her name); yet to run on Fibresand; has been running creditably of late though and looks on a fair mark if she takes to this surface. Yet to win for this yard in five starts and now wears cheekpieces for the first-time.

First try on Fibresand (sire has yet to have a winner on the surface); also makes his stable debut; previously with David Barron. Has won over 7f on turf but looked to be rather going through the motions when last seen; has something to prove.

Two runs on this surface both after wind surgery proved ordinary and he's failed to stake anything like a step forward since. Slowly away when last seen he's often slowly away and looks a difficult ride; last win came in a seller, stiffer task.

7/2
Only one AW start to his name and making his initial Fibresand start (by a sire with a good record on the surface). Shown some fair form on turf but remains a handicap maiden; laboured effort when last seen without his usual visor in a 1m seller.

Three-time course winner over 6f who has won over further (1m) but not on this surface. Two runs for this yard have been well below-par and he raced freely on Tapeta last time making little final impression.

Looked to enjoy this surface winning her first two starts here over 1m under fully-fledged riders. Failed to fire here when last seen (under an inexperienced amateur) but may have needed the run; first run for new yard under a previous winning rider.

One of two runners in this for the yard but remains a 17-race Flat maiden with a very unappealing profile overall. Well below form when last seen (on turf; 6f) and this will be his initial run on Fibresand; new headgear combination tried now.

Fly True13
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-9| J: N Mackay| T: I Furtado| OR:  48| C
10/1
Course winner over 6f who took advantage of a basement mark to score but has failed to back that run up in two runs off of a break over sprint trips here. Now steps up in trip again (tried before over 7f); temperamental sort, others appeal more.

Moved to this yard after four unsuccessful runs for Ivan Furtado via a wind op. Has still shown very little though in two starts for his current yard on Tapeta; made one previous unimpressive appearance here; not one to enter calculations.

Joyful Dreame/s112
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-7| J: Hollie Doyle| T: J Butler| OR:  46
8/1
Long-standing maiden with 34 defeats to her name despite on occasions running some creditable races. Yet to be tried on Fibresand (fitted with first-time eyeshields) but her overall record isn't one that gives any confidence for win purposes.

Forecasts

Benjamin Thomas (7/2), Sooqaan (7/2), One More Chance (7/2), Hic Bibi (11/2), Joyful Dream (8/1), Fly True (10/1), Port Soif (16/1), Big Amigo (20/1), Robben Rainbow (20/1), Allleedsaren'twe (20/1), Major Crispies (25/1), My Valentino (33/1)

Verdict

With Paul Mulrennan taking the ride on PORT SOIF again (looks to appreciate stronger handling) she’s taken to score back on a surface where she has won twice in the past. One More Chance is eased in grade and is proven on the surface but isn’t one to trust although she’s hard to leave out of the equation in this company. Both Benjamin Thomas and Hic Bibi would be good enough to take this if their form could be guaranteed on this surface while Sooqaan isn’t out of this having had plenty of experience on Fibresand.
  1. Port Soif
  2. Sooqaan
  3. One More Chance
