Placed twice in Irish point-to-points (from 10 starts) but has shown little so far under Rules in one bumper and three novice hurdles. Started at big prices in all his hurdles races but likely to be more competitive now he's sent handicapping.

First run back from wind surgery having run creditably last time when returned to hurdles from chasing (runner-up in weak affair). Has in the past won off higher marks over hurdles and can't be ignored here; usual headgear worn.

Not in anything like the same form as he was last year when he completed a handicap hurdles hat-trick (last win came off this mark). Showed a little more spark than he has of late though (has been chasing also); more progress needed now.

12-time Flat maiden; yet to really click over hurdles despite representing a powerful stable; just three runs over hurdles. Ground (heavy) may well have been an issue last time but now goes handicapping off a reasonable mark (based on Flat rating).

Managed to win a Warwick novice (2m) when with Olly Murphy but has so far shown nothing in four handicaps for his current yard. This will be his first run in this grade but hard to recommend on the evidence so far.

Rather patchy career with this yard since coming from France but has still to win a race. Has shown some promise in handicap company before and although easy to back last time did run with credit in this grade; should be involved.

Sweep Of Diamondsv126
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: A Glassonbury| T: R Woodman| OR:  90
50/1
Made little show in six outings on the Flat for two different yards and has yet to make any impact for his current stable; started at 100-1 plus each time. Now goes handicapping with a visor on for the first-time; hard to be enthusiastic.

From a yard that are always to be respected here but his hurdling record isn't one that makes him a sound proposition despite two recent thirds. Both of those placed efforts came off a 1lb lower mark; another similar effort best he can do.

Course winner over slightly further off a 7lb lower mark taking advantage of an error-strewn race; won at 20-1. Her three runs since have shown her to be only modest and would need other to underperform to repeat her November win.

Well beaten in bumpers the story has been much the same in novice hurdles over longer trips than she faces today. Now goes handicapping for the first time brought back to the minimum trip; needs a big stride forward to get involved.

Camaplu26
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-9| J: Alain Cawley| T: D G Bridgwater| OR:  83

Back from a long break (19 months) when running with a modicum of promise over C&D last time. Not beaten far into fourth in a small field off a 2lb higher mark; not at all knocked around and would have a chance if she can repeat that run.

Polar Light14
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-7| J: Jack Sherwood(3)| T: P Henderson| OR:  89

Raced 16 times on the Flat without success but did show some fair form on occasions. Ran her best race over hurdles when upped in trip (2m4f) here last month to finish runner-up to a course specialist; has to repeat that back at 2m.

Bolister (3/1), Dartagnan Le Dun (4/1), Comber Mill (6/1), Polar Light (13/2), Boland's Mill (7/1), King Muro (8/1), Press Gang (8/1), Telegraph Place (12/1), Camaplu (16/1), Golden Cannon (16/1), Stolberg (16/1), Sweep Of Diamonds (50/1), Easyontheeye (50/1)

Verdict

Just a low-grade end to the card and STOLBERG is taken to get back to winning ways having shown plenty of promise on his last run at Wincanton plus he’s also back below his last winning mark. Two making their handicap debuts in Boland’s Mill and Press Gang need watching in the market – this sphere should allow them to show more than they have already. Camaplu wasn’t beaten far last time and she would be of interest if she can replicate that run with Bolister and Dartagnan Le Dun another two that look as though they can get involved on their recent runs.
