Chepstow winner in August, but was tailed off on final start of last season at Ffos Las. Has been given a break and AW record is respectable so is entitled to respect.
Winner at Newcastle in January, but has been a beaten odds-on favourite on a couple of occasions since that success. Shrewd connections reach for a visor in a bid to extract more as this gelding steps up in distance.
Has cut little ice over hurdles, but his previous Flat form was respectable and he has an AW record of 3-9. Should certainly be fit enough for this return to the level.
Bumper winner who has shown a little promise on the AW. Looks high enough in the weights for what he has achieved, however, and others make more appeal.
Grand servant who has won nine of his 50 races and ran his usual solid race over 1m4f at Lingfield last time. Takes a big step up in trip, though, and may find his stamina giving out.
Fair hurdler who is capable on the Flat as he showed when scoring over C&D last summer. Out of form over timber last month so has to prove he is in good enough form to take a hand this time.
Better record on turf than the AW, but has winning form at this venue and was not disgraced over C&D on latest start following a lengthy absence. Should be sharper on this occasion and is not ruled out.
Fine efforts to finish runner-up on last two starts at this venue. Up 2lb, but has to enter calculations given his liking for this surface.
Having his first run for this trainer since leaving the stable of Ed De Giles when a tailed-off last of six at Southwell last month. Best watched until showing more.
Enjoyed the step up to this distance when winning for the fifth time of asking at Lingfield. More needed off 1lb higher in a better race, but clearly has scope for improvement.
Forecasts
Elysees Palace (9/4), Houlton (5/2), Knight Crusader (11/2), Galitello (11/2), Age Of Wisdom (9/1), Take Two (25/1), Akavit (25/1), The Way You Dance (25/1), Gang Warfare (33/1), Shades of Silver (66/1)
Elysees Palace may do better fitted with a visor, but he is not one to take a short price about and the suggestion is HOULTON, who boasts solid recent form at this venue and may be ready to get his head in front. Bottom-weight Galitello has room for improvement, while others with claims include Gang Warfare and Akavit.
- Houlton
- Galitello
- Elysees Palace
