30/100
Grand sort that regularly mixes it at top level, runner-up three of four starts this season and ran right to form at Ascot last time. Track and trip no issue and yard have found a very suitable opportunity for him to get off the mark for the year.

Acdch,t84
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sean Quinlan| T: C Grant| OR:  133| CDWS
33/1
Game and genuine handicapper that was biting off a bit more than he could chew in a Grade 2 at Aintree when last seen. Given a break since then, is a C&D winner and although plenty on at the figures, may pick up some place money if fit.

Horse silk
Blue Flight16
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Callum Bewley| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  132| CD
7/1
Improving novice chaser that was successful over C&D last time out, staying on well under pressure on the run-in to claim the prize. Will stay further than this, and has plenty on his plate at the weights, but is going the right way now.

Captain Redbeard16
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sam Coltherd| T: W Coltherd| OR:  144| CD
6/1
Thorough stayer, took advantage of a below-par Definitly Red to score in a match here last time out and although the National will be his main target again this year, no reason he won't run his race and isn't totally discounted.

Forecasts

Black Corton (30/100), One For Arthur (11/4), Captain Redbeard (6/1), Blue Flight (7/1), Acdc (33/1)

Verdict

Both Captain Redbeard and One For Arthur have the Grand National on the agenda and might find things happening a bit quickly here, although the former is starting to look a bit of a classy type in staying handicaps and isn't easily discounted. Blue Flight is improving and is young enough to find another chunk today but if BLACK CORTON turns up with his A-game then they might all be playing for the places. This looks a little easier than some of the tasks he has faced this season and he can give Bryony Frost another winner.
  1. Black Corton
  2. Captain Redbeard
  3. Blue Flight
