Shade disappointing when warm favourite but only second in Fakenham novices hurdle latest; third below par effort in a row. May have been unsuited by very sharp track but has a little to prove now.

Won Navan maiden hurdle November 2017 prior to wind surgery then joining current handler. Three runs in Britain; shaped well at Ascot in November, but not quite so good last two starts. Eased 2lb though and drop back in trip looks right call.

Ex-Irish. Stayed on strongly to make winning British bow in amateur riders handicap hurdle at Kelso in January and race may have come too soon when well held second of 4 back there just a week later under penalty.

Off the mark at just second attempt over timber when landing Kelso 2m5f novices hurdle and not disgraced when solid third on handicap bow there last time when raced keenly first half of contest.

Won four times over 1m2f Flat in 2018 and made wining hurdles debut at Musselburgh in November for new yard. Upsides there when fell 2 out on New Years Day and has been a touch below her best in two starts since. 3lb drop helps though.

Forecasts

Ratoute Yutty (11/8), Its All A Lark (3/1), Peters Cousin (3/1), Sula Island (8/1), Iconic Belle (11/1)

Verdict

RATOUTE YUTTY will appreciate the drop back in trip and can come out on top in a trappy mares hurdle in which a case can be made for all five runners. Top weight Sula Island may have been unsuited by the track when a beaten favourite at Fakenham last time and may bounce back, while Iconic Belle has been cut some slack by the handicapper and is by no means out of it. Its All A Lark and Peters Cousin make up the field and both could figure if in the mood.
  1. Ratoute Yutty
  2. Iconic Belle
  3. Sula Island
