Rated 76 on the Flat for James Bethell, made winning start over hurdles here (2m, good; 20-1) nine days ago. Should have more to offer upped in distance under the 6lb penalty.
Close third of six on hurdles debut last month in C&D novice contest, should be able to build on that now and is on the shortlist.
Good looking individual for whom fences will likely be his making. Remote fourth at Ludlow (2m, good) recently having undergone wind op / sporting first-time tongue-tie. Needs further improvement.

Won a Newton Abbot bumper (good to firm) on debut in July 2016 when with Colin Tizzard. Was off the track until being last of 17 on his reappearance/stable debut at Warwick in December and since tailed off last month at Chepstow. With new yard now.

Point-to-point winner back in 2017 but made only three starts under rules since and has bene pulled up on each occasion, latest being in similar C&D contest last month having gone off 66-1.
Good second in a good-to-soft ground Warwick bumper over 1m6f in November, though has backed out rather tamely in both starts over hurdles since. Did move well for a long way at Huntingdon (2m4½f, good) latest, so still early days in this sphere.
Nathaniel mare, chased home an easy winner on hurdles bow at Worcester (2m, good) in the autumn (clear of the remainder). She returns after a wind op now with the Nicholls team in flying form.
Flat maiden has struggled both starts over hurdles so far at Warwick, goes up in distance this afternoon and remains with plenty to ponder.

Forecasts

Airton (11/10), Tomorrow Mystery (2/1), At Its Own Expense (5/2), Cassis De Reine (25/1), Bigchextocash (33/1), Movie Theatre (66/1), Machiato (80/1), Caviar Royale (250/1)

Verdict

Tomorrow Mystery could be capable of having a major say here for an in-form Paul Nicholls team, having undergone a wind operation since finishing second on debut at Worcester earlier in the season. Airton meanwhile made a winner start over 2m recently, defying his starting price, and is respected upped in distance despite his penalty. AT ITS OWN EXPENSE shaped nicely on his own hurdles bow when third over C&D last month and, with likely improvement, can improve to open his account.
  1. At Its Own Expense
  2. Airton
  3. Tomorrow Mystery
