Monsieur Cop,t37
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: B S Hughes| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  121| CD
13/8
C&D winner in December (good) off a 7lb lower mark; has won again since then in a game manner at Kelso (2m1f, good); still feasibly treated off a mark of 121 based upon his back form for Paul Nicholls.
2
Horse silk
Civil Unrestb80
Age: 13|  Weight: 11-2| J: Steven Fox(5)| T: J Ewart| OR:  111| CD
12/1
Veteran who is well suited by the flat nature of this course (multiple winner here over hurdles and fences); has 15L to make up on today's rival Monsieur Co based upon their December C&D clash.
3
Horse silk
Boy's On Tour212
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  110
13/2
Front-runner who is relatively lightly-raced over fences (2-6); absent since scoring for the second time over 2m4f at Perth (good) in July; will bid to make all from a 9lb higher mark.
4

Contre Tousp,t11
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Danny Cook| T: B Ellison| OR:  107| D
3/1
Not fluent and finished a tailed-off last of six (behind both Civil Unrest and Monsieur Co) on his last start over fences here in November; not revitalised by a switch to hurdles, although is dropping down the handicap at a rate of knots.
5
Horse silk
John Williamsp1(ex 7)
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-0| J: Rachel McDonald(5)| T: A M Thomson| OR:  102| CD
7/2
Always a force to be reckoned with on a sound surface at Musselburgh (2m-2m4f); forced to dig very deep to take the opener here yesterday; almost certain to run his usual rock-solid race if turned out quickly.

Forecasts

Monsieur Co (13/8), Contre Tous (3/1), John Williams (7/2), Boy's On Tour (13/2), Civil Unrest (12/1)

Verdict

JOHN WILLIAMS is always a force to be reckoned with at Musselburgh (a four-time winner at this track). Despite shouldering a penalty (on top of his initial declared racing weight of 10st 7lb) for his gritty odds-on win here yesterday, he can make the most of the chunk of weight that he receives from the Keith Dalgleish-trained Monsieur Co. Of the remainder Boy's On Tour is noteworthy with Perth (in April) beginning to loom on the horizon.
  1. John Williams
  2. Monsieur Co
  3. Boy's On Tour
