Useful enough pointer at best, but recent efforts have been lacking a bit and he was a beaten favourite at Howick last time. Conditions fine but needs to bounce back to best here.
Low-grade chaser for Sue Smith but did know how to win races, two efforts this winter haven't shown him in his best light and although he'll enjoy conditions today, he needs to find more to beat the best of these.
Only low-grade over hurdles for Mickey Hammond but has already picked up a point-to-point this year, beating the useful Ardkilly Witness at Alnwick in January. Bit below par next time but repeat of earlier form gives him chances.
Has some talent but hard to win with, second at Alnwick latest (with Gran Paradiso behind) shows he's in good heart and conditions here right up his street. Should be thereabouts again but not one for maximum faith.
Useful point-to-pointer if you go back a couple of years, may have needed recent outing at Sheriff Hutton after a long absence and could be fitter here. Has the class to take this, and can't be ruled out with any great conviction.
Low grade under Rules and although he did win a point-to-point at Balcormo Mains last April, it wasn't much of a race and he was well beaten on recent reappearance. Needs plenty more to trouble these.
Forecasts
Shimla Dawn (2/1), Gran Paradiso (5/2), Killer Crow (3/1), Flying Eagle (5/1), Special Wells (25/1), Tambour Major (50/1)
Killer Crow looks the one to beat on recent form but no way is he one for the mortgage, and he may well find one to beat him again. That could be SHIMLA DAWN, who should strip a fair bit fitter for a recent run after nine months off. If he can repture the form that saw him win a couple of Opens the season before, he could be tough to beat. Gran Paradiso could be best of the rest.
