In good form at the turn of the year when last seen, winner here over further in December and then only beaten a length at Ayr next time. Conditions ideal, takes a drop in grade and if ready after a short break, has to be a big player.
Yet to taste victory in 16 starts but is at least consistent and should find conditions here no problem. Needs a bit more to shake these up but every chance of taking some more prizemoney home with him.
Fourth start for this yard, not done much as yet for them but now on a fair mark on previous form for Neil King, and has conditions to suit. Close fifth over C&D here in January gives him place chances if repeating it.
Sent off big prices so far, including in handicaps, showing very little. Too keen for his own good so far and until he learns to race properly, is best avoided.
Have to go back to 2017 to find the last time he visited the winners enclosure, and there's not been much to cheer over the past year in terms of his form. Ususally beatable and despite a good handicap mark these days, it's not tempting enough.
Veteran that at least jumps well and almost always completes, but that's really about the only positive you can find in his recent form and an overall win record in chases of 2-50 tells you plenty about his chances today.
More letters than numbers in his form and on the occasions he does complete, he tends to find he's got many more horses in front of him than behind. No realistic chance of success from out of the handicap here.
Forecasts
John Williams (4/6), Cool Valley (10/3), Elysian Prince (17/2), Leonasisland (16/1), Duhallowcountry (18/1), Gin Cobbler (33/1), Rapid Fritz (100/1)
This looks a terribly weak affair and on all known form, it seems to lie between JOHN WILLIAMS and Cool Valley and with the latter struggling to put his head in front, it looks a golden opportunity for John Williams to score again. He's arguably slightly better class than these and should be up to taking this. Elysian Prince looks the one for trifectas.
- John Williams
- Cool Valley
