Best effort when second in a 7f 0-85 nursery at Sandown behind Barristan The Bold in September. Below that level since, but drops in class here, which could be significant.

Improved with blinkers added when ½L second of 6 to Giacomo Casanova in a 5f handicap at Newcastle last time, and holds third-placed Secret Picnic on same terms here. One to bear in mind for all high draw isn't kind.

Promise in qualifying runs, but soundly beaten off 2lb higher mark when down the field on handicap debut at Lingfield last time, albeit with Speed Skater behind. Cheekpieces tried now, and must bounce back.

Holding her form pretty well since landing a Chelmsford nursery in November, and this is easier than the race she was third in there last time. Hasn't fired in a couple of runs under this rider, however.

Best form at 6f, and runner-up at Lingfield last month. Back to that form when placed at Wolverhampton last time, and claims if a visor squeezes extra out of her. Jockey booking takes the eye.

Standout effort when fifth of 8 over 5f at Wolverhampton last month, but never in a challenging position pitched into handicaps at Lingfield last time, and connections now reach for cheekpieces.

Patchy form for Michael Bell, but not beaten far in a change of headgear for new yard at Wolverhampton last time. Cheekpieces left off now, and she must show she can build on that effort.

Won a nursery over C&D in October in good style, but hit hard for that success by the handicapper, and has struggle in three subsequent outings. Still looks high in the weights, although return to this track and fitting of a visor offer hope.

Improved having been gelded when third of 6 to Giacomo Casanova in a 5f handicap at Newcastle last time. Held by Joey Boy on form, but met trouble in running, and could well improve for second start back from a break. Cheekpieces tried now.

Ended her time with Richard Spencer in the doldrums, and new yard needs to coax her back to her best if she's to get involved here,

Not much to shout about in three starts in novice company as a juvenile, and she fared no better on her return to action recently. This is easier, but she has something to prove.

Forecasts

Valley Belle (13/8), Grandee Daisy (6/1), Nguni (6/1), Secret Picnic (15/2), Joey Boy (17/2), Eufemia (9/1), Fast Endeavour (10/1), Not So Shy (10/1), Nervous Nerys (12/1), Camachess (25/1), Speed Skater (33/1), Apron Strings (125/1)

Verdict

JOEY BOY may not have as much to spare over Secret Picnic as he had at Newcastle last time, but looks to have just about the best claims on balance, and is taken to build on recent promise. Secret Picnic met trouble the last day, and is entitled to come on for the run, so looks the main threat ahead of Nguni, who seemed to appreciate positive tactics last time.
  1. Joey Boy
  2. Secret Picnic
  3. Nguni
