Half-brother to a few hurdles winners and did the job nicely on debut at Bangor in December, belying his 33-1 price tag. However, this is harder and penalty to carry makes life tougher still.
Impressive point-to-point winner and even more impressive on bumper debut, sauntering away at Uttoxeter for a very easy win. Penalty might not stop him if he's in the same mood., and can handle the better ground.
Dam an unraced half-sister to the useful Made In Taipan, and this one made a winning debut when making all to score here in December. Has more to do under a penalty here but clearly useful.
Bred to stay very well, so may not find this enough of a test, but yard have a cracking 31% strike rate with their bumper horses here and on that alone, he deserves plenty of respect.
Second only start in point-to-points, half-brother to the useful 2m5f hurdle winner Gilt Shadow and will make a nice chaser in time, but yard 0-7 in bumpers here and by their own high standards, are having a quiet season.
Won't see the best of him until he gets a trip, so perhaps no surprise to see him plug on for a distant third behind King Roland on debut. Will improve, but a lot to do to turn the tables.
Easy winner of a point-to-point last May and looked very much in need of the run when third on debut at Chepstow in December. Drying ground will help and yard going much better now, so could get in the shake-up.
Half-brother to two point-to-point winners and dam from a useful family, belied 50-1 odds when a close third here on debut at can only improve on that. Will want a bit further in time but definite place chances here.
€54,000 purchase at stores back in 2017, perfectly acceptable debut at Warwick in December but form of that only modest and he will need more here. Chances if building on that debut.
£100,000 purchase 2017, full brother to the useful chaser Sizing Gold and ran well on debut at Exeter, form that is working out well. Will improve from that and looks a big player for a yard flying along at present.
Brother to 3m hurdler Imperial Bay (also trained by Ben Pauling) and will want more of a trip than this in time. Yard do get winners in this sphere but are 0-4 here and on this occasion, may be best watched.
Yard not known for bumper winners and on breeding, he may well find this trip too far (related to winning sprinters). Easy enough to look elsewhere for the winner.
From a good family, half-sister to smart hurdle winner Shinrock Paddy and she herself showed plenty of promise on debut behind Haldon Hill at Exeter (fifth, Not A Nail, reopposes here, third). More to do but one for the future regardless..
Bred to want fences in time but makes only limited appeal on debut, although yard do have a 15% strike rate with their bumper runners here.
From same yard as Gilwen Gracelyn, from a family the yard know well (and have success with) so on that alone is at least worth a glance in the market.
Related to a couple of hurdles winners but yard not known for bumper winners and on that, others readily make a bit more appeal.
Forecasts
King Roland (4/9), Not A Nail (6/1), Mr Woody (10/1), Shakem Up'arry (14/1), Financier (14/1), Farrants Way (18/1), Anax (18/1), Just Got To Get On (20/1), Calum Gilhooley (25/1), Stick With Bill (33/1), Cage Of Fear (33/1), Shutthegate (80/1), Dorrana (80/1), Gilwen Gracelyn (80/1), Half Nelson (80/1), Mac Amara (100/1)
This looks a good bumper on paper and should throw up plenty of winners. King Roland looks the one to beat after a very impressive victory at Uttoxeter but NOT A NAIL is bred to be very good and will know a lot more after his debut third at Exeter. He may be able to improve past him. The market will tell us what's expected of the rest but Mr Woody, Just Got To Get On and newcomer Anax all make plenty of appeal.
- Not A Nail
- King Roland
- Anax
