Winner of first two starts but a bit below par at Hereford last time out, too keen for his own good and weakened out of it. Yard flying now, and although has the penalty to carry, can't be discounted.

Good winner at Taunton two starts back but very disappointing at Fakenham last time. Wouldn't be the first horse not to take to that idiosyncratic track so could bounce back here under conditions that suit.

Paxman75
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: S Bowen| T: Evan Williams
10/1
Point-to-point winner last May, was just starting to come under the pump when falling at Taunton last time but was in the process of putting in a better effort. May progress again and yard do well here, so worth a second look.
In the frame both starts in bumpers, although looking a bit one-paced and in need of further, so may yet find this a bit too sharp a test for his hurdles debut. Others make a bit more appeal.

Well beaten on only start, although it was quite a hot bumper he contested at Newbury on debut. Nevertheless, an awful lot to find on hurdles debut today.

Yaa Salaam156
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: T Scudamore| T: D Pipe
8/1
Twice a winner on the Flat in Germany and wasn't beaten far in a Group 3 either, so clearly has ability, but this looks a tough little race to be pitched in at for your hurdles debut. Best watched unless market says otherwise.

Olympic Odyssey61
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-7| J: N D Fehily| T: H Fry
7/1
Winner on the Flat for George Scott last June and there was something to be taken from his hurdles debut for Harry Fry in December. However, looks one for spring/summer handicaps further down the line. Best watched today.

Forecasts

Khage (11/8), Dr Sanderson (2/1), The Crooner (5/1), Olympic Odyssey (7/1), Yaa Salaam (8/1), Paxman (10/1), Havana River (12/1), Pond Road (14/1), Tiger's Legacy (66/1)

Verdict

Getting the weight, The Crooner is probably the one to beat but the form of his Warwick third isn't standing up as yet, and it may pay to forgive KHAGE a poor effort at Fakenham last time out as that track isn't every horse's cup of tea and concentrate on his Taunton win instead, which gives him every chance here. Dr Sanderson comes from a yard in great form and can't be discounted,
  1. Khage
  2. Dr Sanderson
  3. The Crooner
