Flat and hurdles winner (twice a inner here) who is already off the mark over fences (made a winning debut). Appeared to improve on his debut despite being beaten at Cheltenham; found out at the same track last time though, unseated rider.
Maiden point-to-pointer (0-9) who achieved little under Rules and looked very limited when last seen in a Lingfield handicap hurdle. Hard to fashion any sort of case on the evidence available.
Point-to-point winner at the fourth attempt over 2m4f at Dingley before coming to his present yard. Showed a little bit more than previously in a workaday handicap hurdle last time; now makes his Rules debut over fences.
A few modest placed efforts in point-to-points are the positive entries on his CV but they hardly give him a leading chance in this sphere. Made very little impact in bumpers in Ireland and looks one for the longer term; chase debut.
Looked as though he might be worth a passing glance in modest handicaps over hurdles but that hasn't been borne out by his last two efforts in that sphere. Only completed once in two point-to-points; fails to convince.
Off the mark in Irish point-to-points at the fourth attempt he showed something to work on making his Rules debut in a 2m hurdle at this venue despite falling. Has only completed once since but may be able to show more in this sphere.
Forecasts
Graasten (1/8), Mine's A Pint (5/1), Pete's Choice (10/1), Uallrightharry (16/1), Mr Stubbs (20/1), Kerry's Lord (100/1)
The fences look to be a bigger danger than the equine opposition in this ultra weak novices’ chase that should allow GRAASTEN to get his chasing career back on track as he swims in much calmer waters. The race for second place is likely to be a more competitive one with point-to-point winners Mine’s A Pint and Uallrightharry looking the two contenders in that contest.
