Debut bumper winner for Philip Hobbs, but as yet unable to add to that. Respectable effort when third in a 0-115 at Sedgefield (2m5f, soft) latest, so entitled to enter calculations now dropped in grade.
Dual hurdle and also chase winner when with Donald McCain, the latter from 1lb higher. Trip arguably too short for her reappearance/stable debut at Kelso last month, so that was encouraging. 1lb lower and not ruled out.
4lb higher than his most recent win at Newcastle in December. Held in this grade since then, and although trip and ground suit, he needs to pull out more at this level.
0-23. Has run two or three decent races since joining this trainer, including at Ffos Las last time. Nudged back up 2lb for that 7L second, but remains an each-way player.
Made a respectable stable debut for Alison Hamilton at Hexham in April 2017 (2m, good), but not seen since being held at Perth a month later. Reappears for new yard now, and looks best watched this time.
6lb higher than when winning a Kelso novices' handicap (2m6½f, good to soft) in December. Not far off that form either run since, and is back after wind surgery here. Claims, if that has proved positive.
0-23 and not seen enough in two recent handicaps to suggest that a 4lb drop is going to make much difference here.
6lb higher than when winning at Newcastle in December (2m4½f, good to soft). Ran well next time before falling at the last when still challenging, and another decent effort last time over further. Should be thereabouts.
Won 4-5 in a purple patch in early 2017, all on testing ground. Powers look to have been on the wane since then, and hard to be confident of a revival on what we have seen this winter.
Took a step back in the right direction at Market Rasen (2m7f, soft) in December, but couldn't build on that at Wetherby (3m) last time. Drops 1lb and also in trip, with 10lb claimed this time. Probably capable of going close.
Heading back in the right direction in recent outings, but not difficult to oppose her for win purposes from 9lb 'wrong'.
Forecasts
Rocku (11/4), Cottonvale (9/2), Mance Rayder (11/2), Border Victor (11/2), Lastin' Memories (11/2), Midnight Walk (12/1), Green Zone (16/1), Pads (33/1), Modulus (40/1), Killone (50/1), My Brown Eyed Girl (100/1)
Very modest fayre to open the card, with the dropped-in-grade MANCE RAYDER now looking capable of winning a race at this level, after some solid efforts against better opponents. Rocku is of interest with 10lb being claimed, while several others can have some sort of case made for them, with Lastin' Memories, Border Victor, Cottonvale and Midnight Walk being those.
- Mance Rayder
- Rocku
- Cottonvale
