3/1
Progressive chaser who has been well placed since mid-summer, winning 3-8 over fences and yet to finish out of the front two. Made fair share of jumping errors last month at Sandown behind Darebin, undergone wind surgery since and another 3lb added.

Now 11-years-old and unable to raise a challenge at Sandown this month having been held up. Without a win since December 2017 and likely that run gets extended.

Encouraging reappearance when third behind Charbel (beaten 7¼L) over 2m3½f here in October, though not matched that in either run since and now has a mark against him.

Made all when winning unchallenged at Wetherby (1m7f+, good) early last month, raced keenly since at Doncaster and finished a long behind the principles. Must bounce back from that run, but could be capable of it.

8/1
Front-runner with a modest record over fences (1-16); has gradually become more productive with each of his three appearances this season and duly came home for gutsy Haydock win last time over this sort of trip. Up 4lb this afternoon.

Formerly smart chaser whose form tailed off last season when with Venetia Williams. No shock of this trainer can bring about a revival and seasonal bow at Warwick certainly offered something to work with, watch betting.

3/1
2-7 over fences and ran a good race in the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham (2m4f, good) in November. Disappointing next time at Exeter (2m3f, soft) however. Eased 3lb and had wind surgery since, bounce back is feasible, though 2m looks sharp.

Commis D'Office21
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-6| J: Hugh Nugent(7)| T: Miss V Williams| OR:  123
14/1
Winner in France but has been disappointing in both starts for Venetia Williams, with 714 days between pulled up efforts at Haydock and Sandown. Still has time on his side, but would prefer some positives before supporting.

Forecasts

Eamon An Cnoic (3/1), Capeland (3/1), Overtown Express (3/1), Beau Bay (7/1), Dicosimo (8/1), Shanahan's Turn (9/1), Commis D'Office (14/1), Bright New Dawn (25/1)

Verdict

Capeland has been thoroughly consistent over fences since July and Paul Nicholls' team could scarcely be in better order right now. He's yet to finish out of the front two but he made a few jumping errors last time and, despite a wind op since, he looks like needing a personal best to get back to winning ways. DICOSIMO is improving with each run this season and the Haydock winner can take this having up 4lb while Beau Bay is probably better than his recent Doncaster effort and should bounce back.
  1. Dicosimo
  2. Capeland
  3. Beau Bay
