Useful novice over timber last season, winning a Haydock Grade 2 before finding Cheltenham and Aintree too warm. Stamina a forte and big chance despite having unseated here last month on second chase start. Cheekpieces added.
Front-runner over hurdles (2-5), and a reliable type earning a rating of 137. More patiently ridden so far over fences and has been runner-up all three starts. Clearly in with a chance again now.
Point-to-point winner by 5L on soft ground at Dromahane in March 2017. Pulled up in 3m Kempton novice chase last month on the back of 652-day absence. Another tough ask this afternoon.
Beaten less than 10L in 3m Exeter novice chase won by Lil Rockerfeller in November on rules bow, form that doesn't appear to put him in the mix for an upset here.
Forecasts
Jammin Masters (4/5), Chef Des Obeaux (11/10), St Erney (20/1), Noruki (50/1)
CHEF DES OBEAUX would have too much for Jammin Masters on their respective exploits over hurdles and, despite unseating here last month, can open his account over the larger obstacles. Nicky Henderson's charge should be able to find his rhythm over this longer trip. Richard Johnson may attempt to put pressure on by riding a more forceful race on his mount, though another bridesmaid's role may still await. St Erney is best-placed from the remaining pair to feed on any scraps.
- Chef Des Obeaux
- Jammin Masters
- St Erney
