Battled on really well to score over C&D on penultimate outing, and easy enough to forgive a lesser effort at Kempton when left poorly placed. Ought to bounce back.

Improved when second at Kempton (7f) last month, and built on that when winning readily upped to 1m there last time. Still appeals as being well treated after a 5lb rise, and sure to go well again.

Lost her way in the autumn, but back to form on second start back when head second of 9 to Rippling Waters over C&D last time. Helped by being held up in a race where the pace collapsed there, but not ruled out.

Back from a break with a creditable third at Wolverhampton last month despite the 7f trip arguably being short enough for him these days. Return to 1m for this C&D winner is a positive, and he's much respected.

Good effort when runner-up over C&D on penultimate start, ahead of Rippling Waters. Not so good here last time, but shaped better than the result, and is still worthy of consideration.

Has dropped markedly in the weights, and produced her best effort this season when ½L third of 13 to Tarseekh over 7f here early this month. Bit below that form last time, and has stamina to prove at this trip.

Forecasts

Cashel (1/1), The King's Steed (3/1), Classic Charm (6/1), Rippling Waters (6/1), Gabrial's Kaka (10/1), Accomplice (14/1), Caledonian Gold (66/1)

Verdict

THE KING'S STEED ran well last time, has a good record from a handful of runs here, and should be suited by the return to a mile, so appears to have plenty in his favour even before his rider's claim is taken into account. He is preferred to Kempton winner Cashel, with Rippling Waters expected to bounce back from a modest effort last time, and also considered.
