6/1
Unable to follow up his Wolverhampton win over C&D latest; beaten when hampered by the winner at the furlong pole (would've finished second but for that interference).

Belabour21
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-9| J: E J Walsh| T: W M Brisbourne| OR:  64| CD
12/1
4lb higher than when beating today's rival Nevada by ½L over C&D on his penultimate start; not so effective over 1m6f at Wolverhampton since; fairly lightly-raced for his age.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-8| J: A Mullen| T: S Gollings| OR:  63| BF
4/1
Caught close home by Belabour (beaten ½L) over C&D last month and renews rivalry on marginally better terms despite a 3lb hike in the weights; possible there's more to come on the AW, albeit does need to fully prove that he stays 1m4f.

Camile12
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-4| J: J Fanning| T: I Jardine| OR:  59| BF
10/3
Dual purpose performer in Ireland with Joseph O'Brien, and made a winning start for this stable over hurdles at Ayr (2m3f+, soft) 12-days ago; 3-25 on the Flat (turf) - tries an artificial surface for the first time tonight.

Ripleyh,t19
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: L Morris| T: C Hills| OR:  61
22/1
Eight-race maiden who hasn't possessed the required pace in order to be involved in 7f contests on turf; 0-3 on the AW at Lingfield but shaped as if this extra yardage is worth trying when finishing fifth to Narjes (1m2f) last month.

Hussar Ballad19
Age: 10|  Weight: 8-13| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  54| D
18/1
Fair AW performer (5-35) who is now 10lb lower than when making the frame behind Trautmaan over C&D in October; that said, no real joy in a claimer at Wolverhampton latest (fourth) so others make more appeal.

Echob145
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: J Garritty| T: Jedd O'Keeffe| OR:  56
33/1
Returns from a brief foray over hurdles (unseated his rider at the first at Wetherby in January) in newly-applied headgear; sole win over 1m back in September 2017 (Redcar); others would hold more obvious claims.

Splash Of Verve14
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-10| J: J P Sullivan| T: D Thompson| OR:  51| BF| CD
9/1
Took advantage of a slide in the weights when springing a 25/1 surprise in a Class 7 handicap over C&D on his penultimate start (beat Hugoigo by 2¼L); on the premises off this mark at Wolverhampton (1m4f) latest.

Good Manp13
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-7| J: Barry McHugh| T: Karen McLintock| OR:  48
9/1
Godolphin cast-off who isn't the most straightforward. However, despite being a 16-race maiden, he's finished runner-up over C&D on three occasions and will find a race eventually; ran well behind Royal Cosmic latest considering he blew the start.

Highway Robberh,t37
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-6| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: W Storey| OR:  47| CD
25/1
1-16 on the AW - beat today's rival Good Man by ¾L over C&D in September 2018; has raced over further since (stays) but truthfully this 1m4f trip suits best; work to do with Splash of Verve and Hugoigo.

Quite Subunctious14
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-5| J: M Dwyer| T: K H Clarke| OR:  48
14/1
Irish raider; 11-race maiden; beaten a neck by Dolphin Village over this trip at Wolverhampton two weeks ago (Splash Of Verve a close-up fourth); noteworthy with rider Martin Dwyer a rare visitor to this track (4-12; 33%).

Hugoigo13
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-4| J: Jane Elliott(3)| T: J S Goldie| OR:  45
16/1
13-race maiden who has found the minor place money on each of his last three starts, with C&D form-lines closely associated with plenty of today's rivals; more required; stablemate of Elite Icon.

Elite Icon13
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-4| J: Jamie Gormley(3)| T: J S Goldie| OR:  45
33/1
0-9 on the AW and plenty of improvement is required in order to reverse placings with the likes of Good Man, Hugoigo and Tetradrachm on the basis of recent C&D form; stablemate of Hugoigo.

Prince Consorth18
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-2| J: Nathan Evans| T: J S Wainwright| OR:  45
100/1
15-race maiden (0-7 on the AW) and arrives badly out of sorts; quickly dismissed.

Forecasts

Camile (10/3), Nevada (4/1), Tetradrachm (6/1), Splash Of Verve (9/1), Good Man (9/1), Belabour (12/1), Quite Subunctious (14/1), Hugoigo (16/1), Hussar Ballad (18/1), Ripley (22/1), Highway Robber (25/1), Echo (33/1), Elite Icon (33/1), Prince Consort (100/1)

Verdict

Plenty of those declared have previous over C&D which makes identifying the likeliest winner a challenge. Tetradrachm is feared on the strength of his bloodless Wolverhampton win (penultimate start) although he must prove that he's equally effective at this track (deserves one more chance). The mare Camille makes her AW debut off the back of a hurdles win at Ayr, so it'll be interesting to see how she fares. However, with jockey Martin Dwyer a rare visitor to this track (4-12; 33%), we'll chance the stamina of the 4yo Irish-trained filly QUITE SUBUNCTIOUS.
  1. Quite Subunctious
  2. Good Man
  3. Tetradrachm
