Heavy ground hurdle winner who was well backed ahead of last month's chase debut, when he almost unseated Ruby Walsh after a bad mistake at the first. That pilot looks elsewhere this time, suggesting that Willie Mullins has better chances.
Won a Punchestown maiden hurdle (2m4f) last season on his first start for this trainer and improved on that with a 12L third back there in April, in a Grade 1. Dam a sister to a 3m3f Grade 1 French chase winner, so may be more to come over fences.
Dual 2m4f hurdle winner in 2017. Made a promising start over fences when not always fluent and 3½L third at Punchestown (3m1f, good) in December. Can improve on that and looks stable's first string on jockey bookings.
A maiden in both points and over hurdles, and this looks some way beyond his capabilities.
Won his debut in a bumper and over hurdles, but couldn't repeat that over fences. Although showing improved form last time, he is likely to need significantly more to win this.
Has failed to complete in all three chases, so his first aim is to get round here. Can only watch.
Won a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle in 2016, but has been limited to just three runs since. Was running respectably when falling on his chase debut at Limerick in December, but need to see more from him.
Debut hurdle winner in France, but has thus far drawn a blank in seven starts for this trainer. 9L fifth to Samcro in last year's Ballymore, so is a classy sort who is open to improvement over fences. More needed, but can't rule him out.
Has shown little of interest as far as this level of competition is concerned, and after a 61L defeat on his chase debut, he is impossible to recommend.
Point, bumper and hurdle winner. Looked potentially very useful over fences judged on his 2017 debut effort, but well beaten last month after a layoff. Market check suggested to gauge confidence in a revival.
0-7 under rules (placed in a bumper) and although he has shown bits of promise, he is expected to be outclassed here.
Point, bumper and hurdle winner who has been progressive so far. Reappears for his chase debut after a 14-month absence. Should be suited by this trip and goes very well fresh. Good chase debut anticipated.
Completed a hat-trick in a bumper and two hurdles in 2017. Form tailed off after that. Hinted at a revival last time, but there look more obvious winners of this, on his chase debut.
Mostly moderate form in a point and over hurdles. Readily opposed on this chase debut.
Point winner who won a Thurles maiden hurdle last March. Has looked useful a couple of times over fences from 2m4f-3m1f this season. Could go well, but might be vulnerable to improvers.
Grade 1 winner over hurdles this time last year (2m6f, soft), and ran well at both Cheltenham and Aintree festivals after that. Disappointing over fences so far, but if that hurdling ability can be harnessed he would have claims.
Well held in all starts over hurdles and readily opposed on chase debut.
Forecasts
Duc Des Genievres (11/10), C'Est Jersey (3/1), Tower Bridge (7/1), Burrows Saint (8/1), Monkshood (14/1), Carter Mckay (16/1), Minellafordollars (20/1), The Conditional (25/1), Allblak Des Places (25/1), Gurteen (33/1), Crafty Power (40/1), Mad Carew (50/1), Connard (66/1), Robbies Magic (100/1), Wake Up Early (100/1), Fly De Megaudais (125/1), Captain Cobajay (125/1)
Tower Bridge would be a threat to all if back to his hurdles form, but he clearly carries risks over fences at present, while Minellafordollars is a very interesting chase newcomer and could go close. However, with the benefit of experience, this can go to C'EST JERSEY, who didn't jump as well as he might have on debut, but with Ruby Walsh up, we can see an improved effort. Burrows Saint and Duc Des Genievres are other Willie Mullins representatives of note, and Carter McKay another of potential for Gordon Elliott.
- C'Est Jersey
- Minellafordollars
- Burrows Saint
