Broke his duck at the tenth attempt at Kempton (2m) last time, for which he carries a 6lb penalty. Looked as though there would be more to come, and in a slightly lesser contest, he looks to have solid claims of a follow-up success.
C&D success in December was his sole win from 14 attempts, which he achieved from 4lb lower. Has run well on both visits since without winning, so the concern has to be that he keeps being nudged up the handicap. Each-way player.
Well held on his only previous try over this far, and has yet to win on Polytrack. Both of those facts are a concern, despite his eased-down win at Southwell (1m6f) last time. Follow-up not ruled out, but does have a bit to prove under a penalty.
Yet to win from 16 attempts in this code (is a hurdles winner), but has been placed in all three visits here. Same mark today as when 4L third over CD last month, and is he can raise things a notch he could go very close.
0-16, and although he did run creditably here in a better race 14-months ago, he appears to be most comfortable at Kempton.
Still relatively early days after just four handicap runs, and put in one of his better efforts last time when narrowly held at Chelmsford on being stepped up to this trip. Unexposed and interesting.
Has not been showing a huge amount over hurdles recently, but had preceded that with a respectable handicap debut at Chelmsford (1m5½f) in this code. 2lb lower this time, but a bit to prove in terms of stamina.
C&D win last April came from 8lb higher, but well below that level in all starts in this code since then, and failed to produce much back over hurdles either. Plenty to prove at present.
Has tended to reserve her best efforts, including both her wins, from Kempton. Arrives on a competitive mark, and she has shown that she can perform reasonably well here, so can't rule her out of the frame.
Beaten ½L twice over C&D in recent months, once from this mark and last time from 1lb higher and in a better race. Has to be taken very seriously.
Showed some improvement for being stepped up to this trip here last time, when 4½L fifth from 2lb higher. Needs to step up on that, but not ruled out of the prize money.
Dual hurdle winner over middle distances on good ground, but Polytrack form at Kempton leaves plenty to be desired. Has run here on turf before, but makes her AW debut at the venue with plenty to prove.
Well held over C&D last time from this mark. 1lb 'wrong' and several others have stronger claims.
Runner-up in a couple of 3m1f Plumpton hurdles in November, and now steps up in trip for her British debut in this code and her first Polytrack run since trained in Ireland last March. Others make greater appeal.
Forecasts
Atomic Jack (3/1), Seasearch (4/1), Argyle (6/1), Mood For Mischief (8/1), Nafaayes (8/1), Thresholdofadream (10/1), Bird For Life (10/1), Heron (11/1), Tilsworth Sammy (20/1), Shaji (25/1), Lamh Ar Lamh (25/1), Sixties Idol (25/1), Multigifted (50/1), Netley Abbey (50/1)
An interesting opener, where Mood For Mischief could give them all plenty to think about, but preference is for ATOMIC JACK, who has shown improvement for the step up to this trip and is taken to defy a penalty. Sesearch represents a good yard and tries again on this surface, but has a bit to prove, with Argyle and Thresholdofadream the others who make most appeal.
- Atomic Jack
- Mood For Mischief
- Thresholdofadream
