Second run back from a wind op having faced a stiff task on his chasing debut (modest over hurdles), last of three over C&D. Now goes handicapping for the first time over fences but still looks rather harshly handicapped; prominent runner.

Very lightly-raced sort who was last seen as a two-year-old before returning over fences; had three quick runs in novice events (considerately handled each time). Now goes into handicaps for the first time; no surprise to see a more forward display.

Modest at best over fences (has won twice); ran well last time out under and aggressive ride at Plumpton (2m1f, soft). Shaped well at the weights and looks to have a sound chance; has won from a higher mark in the past.

Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Patrick Cowley(5)| T: B Barr| OR:  71

0-33 in his career (0-4 over fences) he has shown some ability from out of the handicap the last twice over hurdles. Previous chase form reads 34PU; again runs from out of the handicap and has a little to prove over fences.

Forecasts

The Captain (11/8), Edgar (9/4), Kahdian (3/1), Uncle Bobby (8/1)

Verdict

Given a rather overly aggressive ride last time at Plumpton when held on well for the runner-up slot EDGAR is given a good chance to go one better here. He should get a fairly soft lead and that may enable him to add to his two chasing wins so far. Uncle Bobby should be noted in the market as the expectations are that he will do far better over fences now that he goes handicapping having been tenderly handled in this sphere so far. The Captain ought to hold Kahdian off for third spot with the latter again running from out of the handicap.
