Horse A-Z
€55,000 3yo; has finished runner-up on both of his starts so far, including when beaten a neck by the Kim Bailey-trained Prince Llywelyn at Wetherby (2m, good to soft) in January.
2
Horse silk
13/2
Ninth foal; half-brother to six winners including the Cheltenham Festival winner Attaglance and fellow stablemates/bumper scorers Hi George and Mr Monochrome.

Horse silk
Cellar Vieh69
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: Lucy Alexander| T: J Ewart
66/1
Half-brother to the yard's useful chaser Sa Suffit, and also Plus Jamais; has an absolute mountain to climb with Big Bad Bear based on Sedgefield form from December; stablemate of Fostered Phil and Foxey.
4
Horse silk
125/1
First foal out of the 1m7f-3m1f hurdle and chase winner Floreana; stable not known for saddling winners in these type of contests so should hopefully take plenty from this initial racecourse experience.
Cost £20,000 as a 3yo; sixth foal; half-brother to the 1m4f bumper/2m hurdle and 3m chase winner Brook; represents local trainer Sandy Thomson.
6
Horse silk
7/1
Half-brother to the Flat winner Rapturous Applause (1m1f-1m3f+); has proved consistent enough in bumpers without winning (0-3), yet the form book indicates that he has work to do with Big Bad Bear.
7
Horse silk
Fostered Philh123
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: Steven Fox(5)| T: J Ewart
14/1
Showed promise on debut for Paul Nolan at Clonmel in October 2018 (second) and sold for £20,000 the following month; too keen in defeat to Mam Trasna over C&D last month; headgear applied; stable saddles three runners.
8
Horse silk
250/1
Started at odds of 100/1 and showed little spark at any stage on debut at Sedgefield last month; stablemate of Mylittleoulbuddy; can't be considered.
First foal out of a moderate dam (placed in a bumper but poor over hurdles); stablemate of Combustible Girl; rates as a highly unlikely winner.
10
Horse silk
40/1
Bought for £12,000 at Doncaster in May 2018; tenth foal who is closely related to three winners including Platitude (7f-1m6f) and Intense (7f-1m).

Horse silk
Ferry All
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-8| J: Sean Quinlan| T: B Ellison
9/1
€45,000 3yo; fifth foal; half-brother to the talented dual purpose performer Apterix; dam was a dual French AQPS winner (1m3f+ to 1m4f); in excellent hands and rates as a likely type.
12
Horse silk
Foxeyh54
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-8| J: Ross Chapman| T: J Ewart
12/1
Cost 10,000gns as a yearling; capable of finding a small race judged upon his much improved 5L third to the exciting Lossiemouth at Newcastle (1m6f+, soft); stablemate of Cellar Vie and Fostered Phil.
€200,000 yearling; third foal; brother to the German 1m2f+ winner Chalcot; a rare jumps runner in the Fitri Hay silks so interesting to see what the market makes of his chances with promising 7lb claimer Thomas Willmott aboard.

Forecasts

Big Bad Bear (1/1), Black Ebony (13/2), Enlighten (7/1), Ferry All (9/1), Foxey (12/1), Fostered Phil (14/1), Order Of Thistle (25/1), Elf De Re (25/1), Ferloch (40/1), Cellar Vie (66/1), Claret Dabbler (125/1), Mylittleoulbuddy (250/1), Combustible Girl (250/1)

Verdict

An interesting bumper to conclude the Kelso action with a few of those declared having shown clear signs of ability. Langholm trainer James Ewart saddles three runners with the now hooded Fostered Phil marginally more appealing than Foxey. Order Of Thistle is an interesting newcomer for Lucinda Russell and Fitri Hay, whilst the €45,000 3yo Ferry All ticks plenty of boxes for Malton handler Brian Ellison. However, the more obvious winner is the top-weight BIG BAD BEAR who bumped into a promising type (Kim Bailey-trained) at Sedgefield, and that form has substance with the fifth-placed horse Young Lieutenant winning at Exeter since.
  1. Big Bad Bear
  2. Ferry All
  3. Fostered Phil
