Back to form when a cosy winner at Wolverhampton latest, staying on nicely to land the prize late, but that was over 3f further and this drop back in trip is by no means a plus point. 3lb rise fair but will need to make his run earlier.

Has refound a bit of form this year and has been in the frame last four starts. Extra furlong here looks like it will aid his cause, and after an unlucky second at Chelmsford last time, has every chance of gaining compensation.

On a good mark if he can recapture the best of his form and didn't do as badly as a seventh at Wolverhampton last time suggests he did. Furlong shorter here isn't necessarily a positive but he might be able to take a step forward.

Well beaten in four starts but a glimmer of ability over a trip too short on breeding last time out, and he goes into a weak handicap from a basement mark today. Step up in trip can only help and yard has had a decent time of it this year.

Only seen on a racecourse five times in the last three years, and has a huge absence to overcome. First start for new yard, which makes him of some interest, and this trip should suit, so worth a glance in the market if nothing else.

Beaten favourite last two starts, but has performed with some credit and this trip poses no issue. Going well when hampered last time out and if ready to go after a short break, ought to be on the premises. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time.

Still a maiden after ten starts but has shown some form on two of his last three starts, not beaten far at Wolverhampton last time after making most of the running but does seem to reserve his better efforts for that track. On that, others preferred

Just a couple of placings to show for his 15 tries so far and has fallen an awfully long way in the weights in the past year. Showing little signs of life at the moment and not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.

Placed a couple of times on turf last summer but all downhill since then and she was well beaten at Wolverhampton when last seen. Hard to see why she should do any better today.

Hadn't shown a lot before his surprise win at Chelmsford earlier in the month but the step up in trip seemed to do the trick, so no reason to think this extra furlong will be an issue. Obvious player under a penalty with a repeat of that.

Seems to be slowly getting the hang of things and stuck on well enough at Lingfield last time, but this is a big step up in trip (half a mile) and that asks a big question. Best watched at present.

Well beaten at big prices all three starts but bred to need a trip like this and should improve for it. Basement mark to work from and if there's any ability there at all, then a trip like this will bring it out in him.

Forecasts

Affluence (9/2), Sheldon Cooper (5/1), Clearance (11/2), Chakrii (6/1), Pablow (15/2), So I'm Told (8/1), Lady Wolf (12/1), The Celtic Machine (12/1), Boatrace (14/1), Passing Clouds (25/1), Rebel Woods (40/1), Amy Kane (50/1), Takiah (66/1)

Verdict

Clearance and Chakrii are the two in-form contenders here, but the former needs to show he's as effective over this shorter trip and so preference is for the latter, who was a winner at Chelmsford last week and should improve again. But there are some unknown quantities in here, and the likes of So I'm Told, Boatrace and THE CELTIC MACHINE may all do better here. The Celtic Machine will want a trip such as this, and might well leave his form behind now he does. His yard have been among the winners this year and is a sporting selection here.
  1. The Celtic Machine
  2. Chakrii
  3. So I'm Told
