C&D winner (that is his only win from 25 starts) who usually races towards the rear and can be slow away. That run style often leaves him plenty to do; hampered at the start last time (run best ignored); not one to go overboard about.
Took a while to get off the mark (28 attempts) but did so last time out over 1m2f; took advantage of a basement mark. Raised 3lb for that win he's not out of this judged on previous handicap marks; not an obvious type to build a sequence.
C&D winner who was last seen over fences at Ffos Las on heavy ground, this test provides a contrast. Consistent sort on the Flat/AW though and ran a good second when last seen in this sphere over C&D off a 2lb lower mark; drops in grade, respected.
Ended a long losing run last time out over this trip at Newcastle confirming the form of her previous run here over a sharper distance (1m1f). That was his best effort for some while (travelled well); still looks on a workable mark up 3lb; player.
Very rusty on her first start for 16 months (her first for this yard) over 1m1f here last month. Yard have a good record of turning around lightly-raced sorts like this from other yards but she has looked modest so far; market confidence needed.
Dual bumper who has had her attentions turned to the Flat last time on her second run for this yard. Easy to back on that occasion she laboured badly on the Fibresand (finished well beaten); not on a bad mark if this surface suits better.
Second runner in the race for this trainer (makes her debut for them) having shown very little over hurdles in Ireland of late. Only has one win to her name on the Flat (off 10lb higher mark) but jockey booking takes the eye; note a market move.
Given a break before making her handicap debut (upped 2f in trip) but switch to this sphere didn't appear to bring about any obvious improvement. On the evidence so far she looks very modest and hopes now pinned on another new trip.
Edging down the weights gradually and better than her finishing positions the last twice would suggest (especially at Southwell). Still a maiden though (0-10) but any market confidence should be noted; makes her Tapeta debut.
The losing run now stands at 34 although he has on occasions looked capable of winning again (better than last two runs have shown). Often gives himself plenty to do though and may find another race getting away from him here.
Connections obviously saw something in him after buying him out of a Redcar seller at the end of last year; well backed on stable debut. That run came here over 1m1f (longest trip he's faced); upped again in trip, with tongue tie on now (first-time).
Appears to have one standout race on his CV his penultimate outing here over 1m1f in blinkers for the second time off a basement market. That second wasn't repeated last time though and his 0-9 record is unlikely to improve in this better heat.
Forecasts
Splash Of Verve (3/1), Mrs Burbidge (5/1), Prerogative (11/2), Cuckoo's Calling (15/2), Quite Subunctious (17/2), Dolphin Village (10/1), Nice To Sea (14/1), Boatrace (14/1), Pablow (16/1), Warofindependence (20/1), Vocal Heir (50/1), Amy Kane (80/1)
Not a bad contest for the grade and the betting market will be particularly interesting with one or two that need watching in the market for positive vibes such as Quite Subunctious and Vocal Heir both of whom may be better than their current form figures. Cuckoo’s Calling isn’t totally written off as a Flat performer and could still be well handicapped on her bumper form. Mrs Burbidge has shown that she acts well around here and is a consistent sort (hard to keep out of the frame). Prerogative finally scored last time but this is a deeper contest and SPLASH OF VERVE is given the vote; he looks in good form at the moment and handles Tapeta well.
- Splash Of Verve
- Mrs Burbidge
- Vocal Heir
