Dropping in the handicap and did look as though he may be building up to something in that sphere off a much reduced mark. Below form last time over C&D; now drops in grade and looks to have a tough task at the weights.

Given his official mark of 38 has very little chance at these weights and unlikely to be able to break his maiden here. Trip looks too far and hard to make a case for.

A total of 22 Flat runs so far without success and even her best form would not be good enough to win this at the weights. She did travel well in a low-grade C&D handicap last time but as usual promised more than she delivered; not one to rely on.

Course winner over 6f back in 2014 off a mark of 89 but has fallen from those heady heights over the past few years via a few different yards. Not disgraced of late in four runs since a break in C&D handicaps and claimers; chance to end barren spell.

Yet to win a race (has on various occasions run to a reasonable level); did waste a good opportunity open his account in a 1m1f seller here early in the year. Showed his "dark" side on that occasion; given a quiet ride last time, drops in grade.

Bounced back to form last time (claimer here over 1m1f) having run poorly the time before over the same C&D in selling grade (reported to have bled). Generally consistent and has a chance at the weights for a yard that is amongst the winners of late.

One to treat with caution (slow starts being one blot on his copy book); has a profile unsurprisingly that is more miss than hit. Often wears headgear but despite having a chance at the weights and being down in grade he remains a risky proposition.

Forecasts

Secondo (13/8), Zapper Cass (5/2), The Groove (9/2), Skydiving (11/2), Energia Flavio (8/1), Clement (20/1), Madame Jo Jo (40/1), Invinsible (100/1)

Verdict

Quite a few of these are hard to catch right and solid profile aren’t the order of the day. Despite never winning a handicap ENERGIA FLAVIO usually runs well when dropped to this level and he’s selected to add to his two previous course victories. The Groove looked to be back in just that last time out and with the David Evans yard going well he looks a threat. Secondo has to reverse recent C&D form with Zapper Cass but he might just prove to be the more reliable of that duo. Skydiving ought to be able to win at this level but his weak finishing efforts mean he’s not one to consider for win purposes.
  1. Energia Flavio
  2. The Groove
  3. Secondo
