Unable to reach the winner (Winter Breeze) when finishing 2¾L second at Killarney (2m4f+, yielding) in May 2018; moved on from Tony Martin for £10,000 exactly three months later; looks rock-solid on debut for Tim Vaughan (3-6; 50% here this season).

Young Phoenixp18
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-7| J: P J Brennan| T: M Keighley| OR:  91
11/4
Maiden over hurdles (0-9); runner-up on his penultimate start at Fakenham (2m7f+, good to soft) and a broadly similar effort in a better race at Doncaster since; drop in trip potentially helpful on chasing debut.

Highland Peak30
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Callum Bewley| T: Mrs J Stephen| OR:  86
12/1
Offered little in the way of absolute promise over hurdles (0-10) and could only plug on to finish a well held fourth of eight on chasing debut at Catterick (2m, good to soft); this extra yardage needs to generate considerable improvement.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: S Bowen| T: Mrs S J Humphrey| OR:  85

Not the most consistent over hurdles, although despite running in snatches she did manage to win over 2m4f at Fakenham in December; moderate since and difficult to know whether or not she'll take to chasing.

Scorpo6
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-6| J: B S Hughes| T: V Thompson| OR:  76
7/1
15-race maiden; has shown a fraction more promise of late and wasn't totally disgraced in finishing fourth to a stablemate of Danboru (Briac) over C&D latest; notable that Brian Hughes now takes the mount.
6
Horse silk
Two Hootst130
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: Henry Brooke| T: Miss J E Foster| OR:  75
13/2
18-race maiden (0-12 over fences) and has seemingly regressed since joining Jo Foster for £12,000 in July 2018; application of a tongue-tie the only real ray of hope for an improved effort.
7
Horse silk
Sory6
Age: 12|  Weight: 10-0| J: Ross Chapman| T: Miss T Jackson| OR:  67
16/1
18-race maiden; goes chasing for the first time at the age of 12; simply can't be the solution from 3lb out of the handicap.
9
Horse silk
Bertieliciousp,h6
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: J C Haynes| OR:  62
28/1
40-race maiden (0-15 over fences); has bits and pieces of placed form at this track - finished a poor third to Jokers And Rouges over 2m latest; holds very little chance from out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Danboru (2/1), Young Phoenix (11/4), Two Hoots (13/2), Scorpo (7/1), Bisoubisou (10/1), Highland Peak (12/1), Sory (16/1), Bertielicious (28/1), Rapid Fritz (66/1)

Verdict

A very poor race, so a golden opportunity for DANBORU to make a winning start for the Vale Of Glamorgan handler Tim Vaughan. Vaughan is 3-6 (50%) with his Sedgefield runners so far this season and with only the dropped in trip chasing newcomer Young Phoenix listed as a possible danger on all known form, it must rate as highly likely that record will be improved upon further.
  1. Danboru
