Remains a maiden after 10 starts but is a highly consistent one. Twice second over 2m7f at Taunton in December after a break so remains competitive but further 2lb rise means he remains a victim of his consistency.

11/4
Dual course winner over 2m and 2m3f. Second again last time at Wetherby showed he remains at a competitive mark but the big question here is this first try beyond 2m4f. Looked likely to stay in last win here and genuine chance if he does.

Lough Saltp22
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: J E Moore| T: R C Guest| OR:  112| D
8/1
Dual hurdles scorer yet to win over fences but recorded best effort yet when second at Wetherby last time out over 3m when a close second. Up 2lb for that but open to further improvement at this relatively early stage so go well here.

Cougar's Goldp,t40
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: S Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  108| BF
3/1
Gotten his act together over fences of late following a 2m5f Uttoxeter win with a nose defeat at Ffos Las off 7lb higher over the same trip. Up in weight again and returns to 3m which hasn't always convinced as ideal.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Shane Quinlan(7)| T: D L Williams| OR:  95| D
6/1
Point-to-point winner rarely looked a horse likely to win in eight hurdle starts but better effort first time over fences when fourth of 14 in a Chepstow handicap. 3lb higher but perhaps chasing will be the making of him and feather weight helps.

Forecasts

Mahlermade (7/4), Lord County (11/4), Cougar's Gold (3/1), Babytaggle (6/1), Lough Salt (8/1)

Verdict

A tough little contest this but it seems a solid chance for MAHLERMADE to finally get his head in front after several good efforts including seconds the last twice. Lord County steps up in trip here but he looks more than likely to stay and will surely close if doing so. Lough Salt comes here after a good second at Wetherby and that form would likely see him involved also.
  1. Mahlermade
  2. Lord County
  3. Lough Salt
