Looks better than ever at present winning last time out on his second try at 6f (7-27 at 5f) proving his effectiveness at the longer trip and opening up new opportunities. All out to hold on last time and up another 2lb; bold bid can't be ruled out.

On occasions he's looked capable of producing useful form on turf and AW but there always appears to be an excuse for him not winning of late (13 runs since last success). Followed a below-par effort with a worse one last time; hard to be confident.

Too free (reported to have bled) on his first run for this yard over 7f here and can also be slow away. Could be classed as an underachiever so far with the losing run starting to grow and unconvincing taking his last run as a guide.

Not seen for a while but did win three of his last four races and looked very much on the up when last seen winning over 6f at Lingfield. Came a fair way in a short space of time from a yard in good form; expected to continue on an upward curve.

Not seen to best effect last time when he didn't get the best of starts was left poorly placed and finished with running left (behind Alsvinder). Sliding down the weights (3lb below last winning mark); worth more than a glance in this contest.

Not won since taking a decent 7f contest at Lingfield this time last year off a 7lb higher mark. Not disgraced since back from a break (poorly drawn twice) and will appreciate this slight ease in grade; well handicapped and not without a chance.

C&D winner two starts back on his first start for this yard (without usual headgear) and making the most of a reduced mark. Failed to confirm that form next time out when last of six (6f, Kempton); may well have been amiss, needs to bounce back.

Well backed on his last three starts (started favourite each time) one of those runs coming here over 7f. Failed to live up to his billing on each occasion and this looks a tougher ask this time around; others have stronger profiles.

Something Lucky11

Course winner (5f) who has run exclusively at Southwell since returning from a break last November. Below his best on the Fibresand though; posted a rare poor effort last time; this looks a tougher contest to put things right.

Forecasts

Desert Doctor (7/2), Alsvinder (7/2), How Far (4/1), Swift Approval (9/2), Human Nature (6/1), King Robert (12/1), Something Lucky (20/1), Ultimate Avenue (25/1), Atletico (33/1)

Verdict

The best event on the card in terms of quality but it does contain a few that have underachieved of late although that statement can’t be applied to Alsvinder who has shown some of his best form of late. He may have to work harder to confirm form with Desert Doctor who didn’t get the best of runs behind the O’Meara horse last time. Swift Approval is well handicapped although he could probably do with 7f and the ever improving HOW FAR is the suggestion with the Crisford yard in good form and the handicapper yet to quite catch up with his charge.
