Boasts an impressive record over this C&D (1,2,2,1) and was always doing enough to see off My Target by ½L at the first Newcastle fixture of the calendar year (Jan 2nd); holds every chance of following up off just 2lb higher.

Looked the real deal earlier in his career when recording back-to-back course wins (7f-1m) in late 2016/early 2017; has had a few problems which have presumably thwarted his progress; falling in the weights with cheekpieces now applied.

Newcastle regular; notched a fourth course win when beating Harvest Day by 2¼L over 7f here in early January; has no issues whatsoever with this longer trip-finished second to Paparazzi (third has won since) over C&D latest; another 1lb higher here.

Finally off the mark at the 11th attempt when overcoming a wide draw to land the odds in a 7f Wolverhampton novice 15-days ago; fine over 1m (and also stays further); handicap mark left untouched ahead of his first Newcastle start.

Three-time winner on turf (7f-1m) who remains open to a degree of further improvement on the AW after only a couple of attempts so far; that said, is theoretically held by Rey Loopy based upon the evidence of his most recent start.

13/2
Six-time C&D winner; remains 6lb higher than when beating Christopher Wood by a neck here in September and the suspicion is that this race won't necessarily be run to suit; better fancied stablemate of Rioja Day.

Landed a gamble (20/1 to 15/2) when winning over hurdles at Musselburgh in November but he's looked a modest performer on the AW so far (0-5); simply can't be the solution here from well outside of the weights; stablemate of Testa Rossa.

Forecasts

Blame Culture (9/4), Trevithick (5/2), Rey Loopy (9/2), Testa Rossa (13/2), Brittanic (8/1), Mont Kinabalu (16/1), Rioja Day (150/1)

Verdict

REY LOOPY sits 5lb above his last winning mark, yet continues to improve on Tapeta so can potentially make the most of the 8lb that he receives from fellow in-form course specialist Trevithick. The selection is unusually versatile between 7f to 1m, and has already seen his most recent course form-line (holds Mont Kinabalu) franked by Glory Of Paris - a determined winner here last week. Of the remainder, a case can be made for the eased in the weights Brittanic assuming that the newly-applied cheekpieces serve to revitalise.
